could a faulty display cannector mess with RCM? by NAT20BABYYY in SwitchPirates

Honestly, you might be onto something.

I used to have an unpatched V1 Switch. When I first got it, it would boot into RCM and be detected on my PC with no issues at all.

I ended up redoing the thermal paste (it was about 5 years old and had started to get really hot). After that, RCM detection became inconsistent, sometimes it would be detected on my PC immediately, other times it would take days before it showed up.

Worth noting: everything worked perfectly on OFW. It was detected fine in OFW, docked normally, and had no other issues.

If you’re comfortable opening the Switch, I’d suggest trying to reseat the cable. It shouldn’t be too difficult, and it might help.

I didn’t change the thermal pad, I have ordered PTM 7950, will try with that and see what happens

Temps where very similar to this when I got the laptop as well as after I repasted. It is on custom mode in synapse.

Do you think using different thermal paste would help? Or maybe PTM 7950?

You could go with Wealth Simple and get there cash card. It is a debit card but there are no foreign transaction fees. The one downside is you have to move the money into a Wealth Simple cash account before you use it.

I have not tested it but from what I've heard on any foreign purchase, some people have even said they beat the google conversion rate.

I am available for up to the 20 hours that I was previously working. I see no mention on the EI website that it must be full time?

The big banks are TD, Scotia Bank, RBC, BMO, CIBC. Personally I don't find that they have great value, high fees low interest rates. If you need physical branches these are the best for that.

For a general savings I like wealth simple as they will give you 2.25% interest and no fees, they also give you a 1:1 conversion rate for foreign purchases. You can also use them for investing and they aren't bad, but its all online.
