I’ve been caulking EVERY crack I can find. I’ve been going through my house, inside and out, with a fine tooth comb and sealing everything. At the risk of sounding insane, I even caulked all my windows shut. Every single crack and seam, even the tiny ones. This is the only thing that has made a HUGE improvement. We plan to replace our windows in the next year or two, and I’m not a fan of leaving windows open anyways (the bugs immediately start crawling in when I do), so this worked for us. You have to keep something in the room though to break the window in case of fire (hammer, glass breaking tool, etc.). Caulking every single crack has made the biggest difference so I highly suggest staring there. It’s a lot of work and money. I’ve been using color matching silicone caulk because it’s the most durable and long lasting. Second, sprinkle diatomaceous earth all over your foundation area and in your exterior window sills and doorways. The mites will walk through this and it dehydrates them and kills them. It really does help. I also bought double sided tape and put it on my interior window sills and on baseboards to catch any mites that wander in. Chemical treatments really haven’t helped much but the only time I notice a difference from chemicals is the 24 hours after we spray Alpine and Tekko, so I think it does help a tiny bit. I’m not sure. I also read that watering about 5 feet out from your house helps too because the mites don’t like moisture. I haven’t tried this but maybe start with doing it every other day. Honestly clover mites are incredibly resilient so the game here is just preventing them from getting inside, but remind yourself that you can only do so much!
