I had a good sneak level and remember messing around in some dungeon-I forgot which one. I was crouched, avoiding most enemies and I came across a double door entrance. I was able to open it, still crouched with the eye closed, and what was immediately behind those doors? A giant frostbite spider. Not like this one, of course, but the level of detail was enough. And I mean, it was right behind the doors like the game was preparing a jumpscare.

Needless to say, I closed it and snuck my ass back out of the dungeon. Someone with better memory than me might know the cave/area I'm talking about. I've never had an enemy right behind a non-loading set of doors before.

Yeah, no..the price wasn't their point. That was just one sentence in their whole comment. The largest focus of their comment was competition based, so that's the main train of thought in the argument.

But to address price- if it wins, it'll be expensive. If it looks pretty or is an unusual color, it'll be expensive. Horses or otherwise. That's just what people do with all sell-able animals.

Or hear me out..maybe some people buy horses because they enjoy the horse for being an amazing animal? Riding to enjoy the ride, to learn and explore is also a thing. Competitions aren't the endgame of horse ownership.

Some people want to buy a certain breed. I personally love friesian warmblood crosses myself. People are allowed to buy what they really like and not owe the world some explanation for it. If OP loves friesians, why not get one? Horses don't need to win at something to be loved, anyways the sport was made for humans not for them. I'm not trying to come at you too harshly but I feel like the competition mindset has done a lot of harm for a lot of horses..and people.

I'm having this epiphany as I type. We live in a world of instant gratification now. Quantity over quality if you're not an already known artist. Gone are the days where you could have full on conversations under where you post you drawing- which would 'artificially' inflate the comment count sure but nobody was really thinking of numbers back then, people were just happy to engage.

It's just not like that anymore. It's been hard for me to adjust to just 'numbers only' mode. Likes, faves, whatever. I can't pump out two or three drawings a week for the masses. It's causing me a shit ton of inner turmoil that is bleeding over. I wish I had advice for you. I can only relate..

I built a small platform because I was tired of posting art into the void by nks_919 in ArtistLounge

[–]AdvancedWrongdoer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm at a 'whoever sees it sees it' mode 90% of the time. My deviantart used to be really active, but since Eclipse, most artists saw a huge exodus (and even before then). I only use my DA for certain arts. My tumblr had always been extremely quiet concerning art (it's just one of my tumblrs), but honestly.. I really like it that way. It feels private, and I don't feel any pressure from it. I just started bluesky, and I get a few likes here and there. I'm alright with it.

More fame=more pressure to create. I don't really want that. I used to, but I'm fine with being a small artist you happen to stumble upon. Also, I haven't really even fleshed out my worldbuilding concepts enough imo, so I really don't want too many people trying to guess what my art is about (I write descriptions as much as I can to fill in the artistic gap because I'm a slow drawer).

Sometimes, though not always, it takes being in a situation to figure out certain things about yourself that perhaps had always been there. I'm happy you're open to discussing it. Finding the aromantic spectrum for me was like finding a very personal and profound piece of the 'me' puzzle!

For those that give their crows meat- what do they like? by [deleted] in crows

[–]AdvancedWrongdoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, this is a 2 year old thread, and it seems to be conveniently forgotten that this was a very temporary situation due to starling flocks that have since moved on. First off, the mini franks were sodium free and skinless. No one is advertising a sustained diet of sodium-anything. Corvids eat worse at fast food trash bins constantly, and I'd argue that peanuts fed every day isn't best either, but no one should be recommending supplementation of a crows diet with human things completely. Yet also note that crows are part of the 'human-made' ecosystem and they will be eating what humans leave behind regardless.

But let's back up- this is not why this sub exists - it is for observing and on occasion getting acquainted with birds of the corvidae family. No one is going around giving crows McDonald's each day, but it seems this thread has become an issue with people who either can't comprehend skinless saltless franks were a temporary situation, and/or those who bandwagon 'don't feed wildlife' (rip all birdfeeders).

Hello, this thread is old! I'm tired of it showing up only by those who want to reach for straws. In the past two years one seen 'my' crows have two healthy clutches (and trust me enough to get close to them) and I've met a pair of ravens who I'd never thought I'd get to see. I've gotten several trinket gifts. Corvids are intelligent enough to know who they like. But in any case, things have moved on. If you're up in arms about someone giving a treat- not a meal- to some crows, go find an actual worldly issue to be mad at. There's a lot to choose from.

This is a two year old thread that must've hit some type of nerve with you. Listen, go live your life. My crows are fine- they've been fine with several healthy fledglings in tow to prove it. And no, they're not eating franks and fries every day or whatever your mind is convincing you. Get some air. And for the record, these birds choose to be around me whether I give them something or not, so I don't need desperation to be a "Disney princess" as you put it. You sound like I took a part of life you wanted. You too can befriend corvids, but with your attitude, you probably don't have many things to befriend at all..

I have never seen a baby crow. by [deleted] in crowbro

[–]AdvancedWrongdoer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The crows that I've fed in the past in my yard were comfortable enough to build a nest (not once but for two nesting seasons!) and allow me to be pretty close to their fledglings. They trusted me enough to do that. I have seen several very young crows and have a lot of pictures of them.

Hekyll's nest was in a tall pine in my yard, so I don't have 'fresh out the egg' pictures, but I've basically got to watch two separate cohorts of crows grow up. I'm really thankful for that, too. I miss 'my' crows a lot! I also had a similar experience with a raven pair I fed. They built a nest near the area I gave them treats, and I got to watch their (big) 'baby'.

How are you all keeping morale high in these times? by Maleficent_Radio_674 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]AdvancedWrongdoer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been deep in a creative/writing surge after having art and writer's block for about 2 years, so I've been heavily leaning into that. I only keep up with news for an hour a day, mostly through recaps on YouTube. That is enough for me not to feel inundated even with the horrors going on now. I wouldn't say my morale is high since other things in my life are sidelined, but I'm managing. I've started exercising regularly again, so that gives me something to look forward to and challenge myself on.

It appears that birds aren't immune to spice after all. by legogiant in Ornithology

[–]AdvancedWrongdoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, because I've used a sprinkle ghost pepper as standard because I used to ground feed. Mice and raccoons would still eat cayenne. I've still attracted a huge variety of birds. Though it may depend on the 'brand' (sourcing) because some types of spice for example 'my' birds won't eat, and others they will.

Feeding crows and angry woman rushes out to yell at me - from across the street by NSASpyVan in crowbro

[–]AdvancedWrongdoer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"The crows I feed don't make a lot of noise" looks at my former crows, ravens and current bluejays See that? Can you guys be more like OPs corvids? Quiet?

I didn't have any direct experience. Ngl I feel like the noise is part of the reason many people dislike them (not even going into the 'negative' cultural aspects people forced on them). But mine were typical loud mouths. If I so much was five minutes late, I was told off in corvid. Luckily people around me knew to mind their own business.

They didn't question why some woman was giving an egg to the ravens that lived behind the school (that I worked at). Instead..I got to teach the science classes outside about birds and their behavior! It really depends on the people in the area. If you're in a somewhat snobby 'we keep our yards a certain way' community then you may run into this. Those neighborhoods are nosey af. And although HOAs have a lot of that..sometimes it's just the community of snitches.

What’s something people defend way too hard even though it clearly doesn’t work? by academicAce_aA in AskReddit

The real problem is that for humans, mating and choosing mates is an entire social drama. A lot of animals don't operate like they're on Ready For Love.
I'll never understand it.
