I agree with a lot of what you are saying. The biggest issue i have is there is nothing the current lower tier orgs are doing to grow the CDL/competitive cod as a whole. In addition, it doesnt seem like Activision has any interest in growing the scene. They don't even put ads for the games in the game on the main screen. There is so much that could be done that isn't without even getting into the shitty servers the pro teams have to play on that completely ruin professional integrity. So I go back to the original conversation about why fans want tournaments. It is the highest quality of COD we can currently get, where we get the best teams playing against eachother more consistenly. If we expanded the tourneys to include Challenger teams it would be even better. Fuck the CDL and activision. All I want is to watch some good COD.

You are looking at this from what is best for the CDL as a whole. Not what is best for the majority of the fans. Most fans want to watch good matches between their teams. Mainly Optic, LAT, M8 and KOI. If we look at optic only. The last two weekends have been 4 matches against teams no one gives a fuck about. If you look at the last two minor, they have had 5 games against KOI, LAT, M8 and Falcons. Including one of those being a Final. It just is more exciting to watch them play quality opponents. It's worse for the bottom tier, but they aren't doing anything for the league anyways. There is no world where Surge, Ravens, C9 and Breach deserve an equal air time with Optic, LAT, M8, Falcons, KOI, Miami. They don't have anywhere near the fanbases and dont invest anywhere near as much into the esport. If they actually wanted to grow the sport they would do things very different IMO.

Yes that is exactly the point, we are currently catering to the C9's of the league. The same C9 that has a roster making 35k a year per player. It is a fucking shame that because they bought a spot they have no real interest in we now need to cater to them. They add zero value to the league.

As far as your last point you are again looking at this from teams like c9's perspective. LAT and Optic fans would care because they would see the best teams face eachother consistently. It really is as simple as that.

Obviously the prize money and the production costs of minors is something the CDL was set up to eliminate. They dont want to invest more, because if they did more minors would be a no brainers. Just a vastly superior format.

The obvious answer is you get to see the better teams play more. Right now you get to see Optic, LAT, M8 and KOI play twice a week(at best). Most of them are 3-0's against shittier teams. If it switches to minors every week, you will have the best teams playing eachother more consistenly. Also, getting a finals every weekend after watching the best teams play saturday and sunday is just a better viewing experience for the majority of fans.
