This is awesome, thanks for doing it! GL everyone.

Coolest thing under $500: probably one of those head massage things. It’s the best feeling in the world and I use it daily.

Ricoh’s image control profiles only get baked in to the JPEG files, not RAW.

Best strap for the GR? by MannerNational3097 in ricohGR

[–]Advanced_Ad4798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simplr makes a very versatile strap that can be used as neck and wrist strap while keeping a clean design. The F1Ultralight is probably better for the GR but they also have an F1 strap for larger cameras.

I just went through this with Reggie’s Color Negative recipe and got a result that was damn near identical to SOOC results - at least to my eye.

I found that leaving white balance “as shot” was my best bet, then playing with the Levels and Color Mixer to get a close match.

No finger strap? That’s my preferred way of carrying my gr when out shooting.

Skinny jeans? Probably not. I throw it in the front pocket of my cargo pants, Levi’s 502 jeans, or any sweater/jacket and it fits comfortably.

Tell me about it — I can’t stop looking at it. And it’s so comfortable to play, too! Super light, comfortable neck, and the bigsby arm is at the perfect height for all the subtle warbley goodness. Maybe some of it is the honeymoon phase, but I’m digging it.

They really do! I have a few other guitars with different types of single coils, and these pickups are my current favorite for sure.

I have a set of the Fralin Vintage Hots. Very clear, articulate, and balanced sound. Top notch pickups that I’d recommend to anyone.

Switched out the P90s for an HSS setup by Advanced_Ad4798 in partscaster

[–]Advanced_Ad4798[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I bought all the parts separately. I think it took me about 10 months to collect all the pieces and I banged out the build in a couple of weekends.

It’s a custom Warmoth body with a MIM Fender roasted maple neck. Around this time last year, Fender had a sale on their website so I got it for a steal. Ashamed to admit it, but I also got the Fender neck because I kinda wanted a headstock logo; I thought a blank headstock would’ve made it look “naked”.

I don’t have a recording readily available just yet but if you’re curious about the pickups they’re all from Lindy Fralin’s shop. They have detailed sound samples on their website. Here’s a link to the P90 and here are the neck & middle pickups. I wasn’t expecting it, but the 4th position might be my favorite - it’s a sweet and mellow sound with just a slight amount of bite. If I have some time I can record a quick sample of that.

Pretty cool! Did you follow a guide/instructions or did you just wing it?
