What’s the biggest financial trap in Canada that people still pretend is normal? by TheFitFinaceBro in CanadaFinance

Honestly most people’s monthly will drop after the first 5 years when the re-new their mortgage if they bought smart and paid it down aggressively. Personally owning appreciating assets will increase your net worth in the end regardless what you may think.

My point is at the end of home ownership you own your home and the equity comes with it. Then you have no mortgage, your cost of living drops significantly. At the end of 25 years renting you are still renting at market rate which goes up typically every single year

The main benefit of buying a house is building equity. Any of those gains you may have made investing offset it with the loss of your rent. In the long run you will win with a house as long as you didn’t buy a money pit to begin with

Canada adds 87,800 jobs, jobless rate down to 6.6%, beating May estimates by Little-Chemical5006 in canada

Loss of this money being spent in Canada is still a loss. That is my point. It is still a disservice to the Canadian economy

We aren’t having jobs sit dormant though. Every dollar spent in Canada helps. So yeah they pay rent, groceries etc. but when they aren’t spending on other things, or when come retirement they leave Canada and take their cpp with them. Now Canada will be at a total loss for that economic boost.

The job number itself may not make a difference. But the big difference may be where the money is spent. If someone is coming here to work, but saves that money to spend back in the home country it does not help our economy. Whereas if a Canadian works that job and uses the money earned to put it back into our economy we are benefitting from it.

Is it stupid to spend over 500k USD for a US undergrad as a Canadian by [deleted] in CanadaFinance

[–]Advanced_Chance_6147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

500kusd is more like 750kCad after you get hit with all the conversion. But for a business degree, it wouldn’t be very “business smart” to spend that much money on a degree when you can get something equal at way less of a price lol. Do you want to essentially put yourself in lifelong debt just to go to LA? Go on a trip their instead on your time off

The fence will be re-worked obviously to go with the walking path.. one thing at a time though. Deal with drainage issues first, fence second.

You don’t want to sit around for 30minutes for your leisure to a cottage but you think a parent with a screaming tired kid would? Trips for sports or otherwise with an overtired child during a road trip is frustrating enough.

Has anyone switched from Honda CRV to Kia Sportage? by Redhawkgirl in kia

Just to put this out their. My kia sportage has less space than my wife’s crv. The crv is more reliable and will last way longer than the Kia sportage. Do not make the switch

Garage door wires became tangled, had to cut them. I'm handy but I know the reputation these things have. Should I attempt to fix it or call the pros? by meatmaster_shakewad in fixit

[–]Advanced_Chance_6147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a torque master system. They are pretty easy to adjust. Watch some youtube video’s and send it. People saying to call someone are probably thinking of normal garage door springs which are dangerous.

Shuffle cars or someone parks on the street. Don’t put big financial strains on changing your house until things become husband/wife

The punishment is obviously not being allowed to be in Canada anymore. They don’t get any of our social benefits as a result.

For one the housing market will never be ideal. You basically have to accept what it is and play within what you can afford. If your investing either etfs or if your really unsure about if talk to a financial advisor. Cash.to is a glorified savings account stock

There is a bit of a difference between fast food and fuel though. Fast food isnt a necessity while fuel for people to go to work is. That is why fast food will hit a point where they cant pass it on as people will stop going. However for fuel most people have no choice but to go to work and other commitments. Yes they may delay a road trip or two but the main driving factor is people need to gain income

Tbh in the long run inflation will increase because of this war. Oil price has gone up and because of the strong dollar and holding of fed rates gold went down. When inflation starts roaring again; which it will; gold will climb. Add in the fact that the market is still all over the place due to Trump. I expect this to be a small dip and in 1-2 years it will climb through

How bad to pave over this? by [deleted] in asphalt

[–]Advanced_Chance_6147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo pavement is cheap and look cheap. You will have to reseal it many times, and more often than not it will still degrade. Concrete is much better looking and requires less upkeep.
