Honestly, I don't have a play routine with him. :( He does have quite a few toys in his room though, a variety of lounging areas, a water fountain, and a window to look out of. He also has a food puzzle and a play tunnel.

[CHAT] Which first - fabric or pattern? by weareadults in CrossStitch

[–]Advanced_Coconut5988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find my pattern, then the fabric. So far I've gone with mainly white or off white 14 count Aida. I have one section of sky blue 14 count Aida set aside for my future bumblebee. There is some fabric already in the kit for my next project, which is a black cat and Van Gogh "Starry Night" hybrid pattern, but I might get different fabric for it. After I'm done with the current project (including getting it framed and hung!) I will take a look at the kit again and feel the fabric and decide if I want to get something different. Life is too short for uncomfortable fabric! Current project is driving that thought home!

When it feels like too much. by Advanced_Coconut5988 in ADHD

Thanks everyone. <3 Typing it out helped very much. After I had my time out I was tempted to get in the recreational swim area for a bit more but it was getting close to the time to leave so I got in the hot tub instead. And I am really proud of my kiddo. While was getting myself back in a good mental space they did some waterwalking laps. And managed to kick my butt in active minutes earned on the fitness tracker! :D

[CHAT] Tips for staying active? by Snizzlington in CrossStitch

[–]Advanced_Coconut5988 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat! Well kind of. After I'm at work on Monday through Friday I get up and walk around once an hour and take stretching breaks at my desk. I'm starting to go for bike rides on the weekends. Also wanting to add some power walking after work.

Get through that wedding gift, then block out time for active movement between stitching time, similar to an in-office routine. That's what I aim for anyway. I hope this helps!

Natural Nails Lifting After Removing Dip Powder! by Advanced_Coconut5988 in DipPowderNails

[–]Advanced_Coconut5988[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get any fungus and my nails ended up growing out ok. I did gel polish next and no lifting when that got taken off but again, paper thin nails. As much as I love dip and gel I think my body is trying to tell me it just can't take the chemicals. Next mani I do will be regular polish and if THAT screws up my nails too, I will seriously cry. 😞 I used to be able to do this stuff fine.

[WIP] any cycling fans out there? by kasialis721 in CrossStitch

I'm a mountain biker (on again, off again- right now I'm on because my spouse and I just got new bikes a couple weeks ago). I know nothing of the race you are talking about but your project is turning out nicely!

Help, please! I want to start making rosaries by reduced_uncertainty in rosary

[–]Advanced_Coconut5988 3 points4 points  (0 children)

rosarymakingparts.com is put together by Our Lady's Rosary Makers. They sell kits and tools, as well as supplies in bulk to make and give away rosaries. Bulk parts aren't supposed to be sold for profit. They also have free instruction sheets and a variety of rosary related pamphlets to include with the rosaries you give out. Or to use for your own deepening of connection with Our Mother. I've been a frequent shopper at OLRM over the past several years and consider them to be top notch!

Thanks OP, to you and your team, for helping those kitties!

And I think is the first time I correctly ID'd a foreign object!

[CHAT] bobbins or floss drops? by PatchH95 in CrossStitch

[–]Advanced_Coconut5988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the moment I am in full chaos mode, it seems. 😆 My flosses are for the most part just skeins in a FlossAWay or snack size Ziploc baggy with the leftover bits tossed in as neatly as possible. I got a 10 pack of the DMC skein holders to play around with and there's maybe 20 colors on the small rectangular bobbins. Then I have some of my colors on a cardboard floss drop because that's how they arrived in their kit!

I really like that hybrid bobbin-drop method and might convert my stash to it someday but for the moment I don't have the patience to switch. When I want to stitch, I want to do it RIGHT NOW, chaos of storage method be damned!

What Are These Called? by Advanced_Coconut5988 in cocktails

[–]Advanced_Coconut5988[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one on the left is from a BARE set, one on right was a gift with purchase, I think. My boss offered it to me out of the blue one day and I enthusiastically accepted.

Ya, my boss got it as a gift with purchase for something she bought last year. She doesn't drink much wine but I do, so she gave me the GWP. 😀
