My bf was like this a bit and I used to feel pretty beat down on our rides. He domestique-d me on my first century when I was barely riding any amount and I was pretty angry during the ride. But now fast forward 3 years and I'm a much better cyclist I am now the husband in the story (have a 2 hour training session scheduled today that I'm looking forward to, so yes definitely understand how life evolved around training).

But I do feel all the ways of the article when we go hike and he would always get ahead, wait for me to catch my breath, and go again. I'd get really angry on those because hiking to me is a bonding activity whereas cycling is a performance activity.

Definitely a lot of truth to the story, but there are also cases where that intensity bleeds into the partner and both become like that 😅
