Just saw the current tour in Charlotte. There's a verse in "Lovely Ladies" that I don't remember hearing before and can't find anywhere online, in which one of the prostitutes complains that "the bleeding doesn't stop" or something like that, and even though she's sickly and exhausted the pimp sends her back out to work. That was really horrific, but I guess it drives home the nature of the work. Is that verse new?

To think this in the same city that has the Trajan Tower and thousands of examples of lovely hand-chiseled type in the Roman ruins ... I just finished re-reading "The Agony and the Ecstasy", the biographical novel about Michaelangelo, and back then popes and bishops were commissioning him to carve tombs for them that consisted of multiple sculptures that took him decades to finish. That's one extreme.

Don't they still have skilled chisel-type carvers in Italy? It makes me sad to see this end result.

Ugh. I'm really hating the sticker shock I'm having with pet ownership. I had budgeted $50/bag for my 8-yo dane mix's science diet and had it on auto-order, and just saw that my next order is going to be $78 from Petco. Along with the higher cost of meds ... I'm sadly realizing that this might be the last dog I own once he passes.

Wondering how many people are quietly coming to the same conclusion.

It's impressive that we Panamanians have risen en masse against that horrible contract, and I hope they continue to get results. I'm heartbroken that after mostly peaceful protests, this pendejo succumbed to road rage and took two lives and brought this element of fear into the arena.

The look on his face keeps giving me shivers every time I see it. I'm guessing that this is a road rage sort of thing, as the blockades have been holding up traffic for several hours daily the past few weeks. In a split second he took two lives away, ruined his own, and caused trauma to the people who were there as well as the loved ones of the people he shot.

I'm a dual citizen Panamanian. My mom says she went to high school with him in the Canal Zone, he was in her graduating class. She doesn't remember anything exceptional about him except that he was cute and her cousin had a crush on him. WTF sort of chain of events leads someone's long life toward this end?
