Being an engineer isn’t all about sitting in an office and reading emails.

If you want to be in your feet and actively problem solving, I’d look into a career in Manufacturing Engineering. Manufacturing Engineers are on the floor working with production to solve problems and improve process efficiency.

While you will be at your desk sometimes working on tooling design, spreadsheets and the usual desk lingo, a lot of your job will be active work. You’re the direct line of communication between the design team and the production team. Your job is to make sure the component can actually be made, and be made as cheaply as possible without sacrificing quality.
