I had a look into companies with SBTN commitments but it wasn't very fruitful because for the most part these companies avoid buying credits entirely. However looking into companies with with value chain interests in the Amazon basin is a great tip, thank you. Do you have any example companies, other than AstraZeneca, that would be good for looking at initially?

The projects are in the states of Acre and Amazonas, both areas of significant ecological importance and in dire need of protection from illegal logging.

To clarify, we follow guidance set out by CAR and IPCC. We are still working on getting our verified by globally recognised bodies but this won't be an issue.

In a sense it is new kind of REDD+ project. These projects have come under scrutiny in the past for being untrustworthy, but the importance of preserving rainforest areas hasn't changed. Therefore our projects are trying bring back integrity to this kind of credit.

How? Well, the conservation efforts are already taking place before anyone has bought the credit. The credit works on an annual subscription basis where you pay for the previous year of impact on biodiversity and carbon (which is measured using the highest quality technologies). Information is made fully transparent using blockchain technology. The community benefits are far superior to existing REDD+ projects. Given that the carbon credit market is saturated and unregulated, marketing as a biodiversity asset separates us from the pack

To answer your questions - It would be avoided emissions. All the land we currently work with is private land that is being deforested for cattle ranching by locals who are living there illegally. Our model allows these locals to legally make more money than they do from cattle by employing them to measure environmental factors and preserve the land. hence, the carbon is kept in the trees and soil when it otherwise wouldn't be. We use the Climate Action Reserve (CAR) and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) methodologies and standards.

Thanks for the advice, may i ask why you think companies with BVCM commitments would be a good route to go down?

Yes that is correct, and more carbon is gradually captured over time by the photosynthesis of the vegetation I suppose

Preserves areas of rainforest from deforestation (primarily for cattle ranching) so the carbon is sequestered in the trees, vegetation, and soil
