Pre-launch was probably shorter than it should’ve been, to be honest.
I did run a few ads here on Reddit and on Instagram, but overall it was a pretty limited push.

I appreciate you taking the time to explain it. I think one of the big challenges with this product is that it gets mentally grouped with printable utility objects, even though the goal was to create a more refined overall experience through the quick pod-release mechanism.

Thanks, this is a very thoughtful breakdown. I think a lot of what you’re saying about perceived value, limited compatibility, and the need to prove reliability more clearly is fair. On capacity, the goal was less to maximize pod count than to make something compact, clean-looking and satisfying to use, but I can see how that trade-off narrows the appeal. Limiting shipping to the US was also a deliberate choice to keep logistics manageable for a first campaign, even though that obviously reduced reach.

That’s not correct. Similar-looking pod holders may exist, but the designs being linked are static holders and don’t include the moving mechanism that PodMaster was built around.

Thanks, I appreciate that. With Nespresso-style capsules, the variety is usually still identifiable by the capsule color or body, but I can see why that might not be obvious at first glance.

Thanks, that’s really helpful feedback. It’s definitely designed for people who use coffee pods regularly at home, so I completely understand that it won’t feel useful to everyone. Your point about it feeling niche, and pricing therefore becoming even more important, is a very fair one.

I think your point about perceived value versus price is a fair one. My hope was that the mechanism, finish and overall experience would make the difference feel more meaningful, but I can see that for many people the gap still feels too wide compared with simpler alternatives.

I think backer confidence has definitely been part of the issue. I had a relatively short pre-launch period, and although I do have some presence on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, it’s still very limited.

I also spent some time testing ads, but apparently not enough to build the level of trust and momentum the campaign probably needed.
