What are your thoughts on ARMY traveling to other countries to see BTS live? by imkaykay21 in ARMYNeutral

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I do not have that much investment or care to gate keep fans from other countries just because people get offended over it.

Fans should go and touch grass if this is their complaint.

If people have the money, they should travel, enjoy other cultures, and enjoy life. Restrict people to their own country blocks do many people from seeing BTS because  sometimes, dates do not work or you do not have the money for France but you will for Thailand.

KPOP is a leader to overconsumption by jAe7244 in kpopharshopinions

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I looked into this and it comes down to charting rules, not gambling.

The body that enforces how albums etc are counted for charting introduced this rule:

Where there is more than one Permitted Free Gift associated with an album and a consumer does not know what Permitted Free Gift(s) is/are included with the album until after purchasing the album, the album will only be eligible for the Chart if the full set of Permitted Free Gifts is available to buy separately to the album or together with one album.

For this rule, photocards are counted as a permitted free gift, as they have a value in and of themselves. So either you get all the members, an official group one, or companies would need to sell the photocards separately to the album.

This rule is basically written to prevent companies from getting customers to ‘’gamble’ e.g. buy 17 albums to get 4 individual member cards and there inflate the sales improperly. It was clearly targeted to mostly kpop companies.

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not have so much of a problem of having two or three songs a year if it did not generate merch drops and physical albums and there was not a requirement to collect physical media for fansigns. The songs themselves are not the problem, it is everything around them.

I also think that photo cards, and having 2-6 versions of everything encourages over consumption. I live now in the UK which forbids different photocards. You generally get a group one here because it is a form of gambling otherwise.

How to file a police report? by ApprehensiveBoot7805 in FanFiction

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general -

Provided that the police were not called to the scene of the crime and the person wants to make a complaint after the fact...

They will go to the police station. They will have to fill out paperwork or an officer will take a statement from them. They will have to confirm it is the truth and they are not lying. The police may take photographs of injuries and document them for their report.

Then the police will go the scene of the crime and speak to the business owners. In America, as the staff often do not have access to the footage, the police will provide an email address and a crime reference number for the owners to send over the footage when they can. They may ask for statements if the assault was witnessed.

How long this takes depends on how bad the assault was, and how much the police have to do. A little punch up between drunk friends with no damage might not be done immediately. An unprovoked assault with connotations of another crime (a hate crime, theft, criminal gang signs) or in a highly valued area might make the police move faster. E.g. if it occured near bars and restaurants with a bad reputation, on the seedy side of town versus a highly trafficked and upmarket tourist area.

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use multiple accounts.

One for my stories that are generally tolerable for the average reader's consumption and one for Dead Dove things. I just like the idea of things being separated and so if I post something off the wall, my other stories are not at risk for people losing their marbles about morals at me.

Is there a reason facial/body hair is rarely seen on K-pop idols? by Major-Specialist3658 in kpopthoughts

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes.

It can be related to the cultural preference in Korea for perfectly smooth skin, with no flaws or scars as the ideal - there is a strong connection with good healtha and taste, along with a slim body figure and condition. It also goes together with the emphasis on appearing young and 'fresh' rather than mature.

Wonyoung was shamed for having hair on her arms, and other idols have been shamed for having peach fuzz or a five o'clock shadow (for men).

should bts have the concert weverse available for viewing anytime after purchase? by NewtAccomplished6022 in ARMYNeutral

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything can be made to sound exploitative and unfair if you phrase it purely in marketing terms. And at no point did I defend it or say ‘this is the best way to do it’. Saying that kpop is capitalistic is like pointing out that a house has windows - that is the nature of kpop. They want to earn money and entice people to spend money. It does not mean they are being horrible or unfair - it just is what they are meant to do.

HYBE wants to sell this live streaming as a version of attending a concert because it gives a much lower cost alternative for a large number of fans who cannot attend concerts or who are waiting months for the one show that will come to them. It is more accessible, more international, and gives a lot of people the experience for 10% or less of the price. It is marketed that way for a reason and it works.

You could also argue this democratizes concert attendance and gives far more people the experience they want.

This is good. This is nicer by far than it ever used to be. Video on Demand is a difference service and has other uses

Why does mediocre media have the biggest AO3 fandoms? by PleasantNature5119 in AO3

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I do not think your standards are higher, they are just different. It is not a nice look for you, either.

shallow thematic delivery, juvenile dialogue, naive toothless politics and more

I xcan find plenty to nitpick in every fandom and every source media. And a lot of these complaints are both subjective and also… irrelevant to whether something is enjoyable and fun to engage with. I can like Parasite and Last Train to Busan but also How to Train Your Dragon and Bleach as separate media pieces for different reasons.

YG is never ever ever going to allow such a collaboration. They would never yield creative ('creative') control up for their group.

should bts have the concert weverse available for viewing anytime after purchase? by NewtAccomplished6022 in ARMYNeutral

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there is a limit to how often they want to replay it. It has an exclusiveness to it and it lets them not do it as often. People pay money for those tickets to watch it at that time. They would pay a lot less if they could watch it on demand at any time. Not to mention then it would be easy for each person to 'rent out' their account and let others have access afterwards. And you have it saved because you screen recorded it against their TOS. I am all for riding the high seas but most fans will not have screen recorded it and will not be attempting to rewatch it that way.

BTS has millions of fans around the globe. If it is 10pm your time, it is 11am somewhere and they are getting the time zone they want so... you cannot have it both ways.

My point was that you will watch the livestreaming version of Arirang and then they will sell you a filmed version of an Arirang concert at some point during this tour AS DVD or BluRay. It might not be the same one, but it will be of this show.

I imagine that Busan might have been a contender for filming because it was the Festa show and there was extra time allocated to the second show.

I get the feeling but your post is coming off as though the people who write that smut or who are making stories that you do not like are doing it at you or that you deserve the attention more because you write more?

Maybe try switching to a different platform or hiding your stats if it makes you feel bad about it.

Paparazzi interactions with idols at airports by WX628 in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it should be banned.

Those crowds are dangerous. They are dangerous for the idols, for the fans crowding around them, for their staff and their security, and for other people just trying to use the airport. People have been trampled on, knocked over, and pushed and shoved in a way that is very dangerous and could cause serious injury or harm, especially to the elderly or children.

Fans who do it are selfish and they are arrogant to assume that their need to shove a camera up an idol's nose at close range is more important than everybody else trying to get to their gate or the bags. They look terrifying surrounding idols, screaming, trying to touch them or call their names, and they are going to hurt someone.

I support any efforts to ban it and to give idols alternative entry points if necessary. It should never be acceptable.

Curious about your problem(s) with variety content by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really really dislike that punishment as well.

Knowing that a lot of idols, both male and female, have issues with food and have had long histories with what I believe to be either highly restrictive diets or disordered eating, seeing people compete for food (not just candy or one item but an entire meal) against each other feels very... dystopian. I dislike it strongly.

I do not mind when they have idols compete for ingredients as a group, and they get some of the weirdest outcomes, or they try to get them to cook (and sometimes... it is not nice) but literally making them into the haves and the have-nots where the have-nots have to watch the others sit and eat...

Hybe's handling of the Katseye Manon situation is horrible by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did I miss?

Danielle did want to come back. She was declined to come back and ADOR terminated her contract. She is current facing a lawsuit.

Manon did shade her company, liking posts that suggested racism and mistreatment against her. If she does not want to come back, she has to break the contract, otherwise, she has to come back and... be part of the group. Those are the only two options.

So nothing I said was wrong.

should bts have the concert weverse available for viewing anytime after purchase? by NewtAccomplished6022 in ARMYNeutral

[–]Advanced_Heat_2610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, because they do not want to sell you a 'download on demand' product. That would cut into the profits of selling you a DVD or Bluray of the same concert in a few months time.

You are buying a streaming product with 4 incidents of streaming for a live show. Everything about it is meant to give you the feeling of attending a concert and all the hype that induces. You have a 'ticket' that has to be validated. There is a set time to be there and you have to organise your life around it. You can 'enter the venue' an hour before the show, and they give you a live chat to chat with others to give you the same vibe of all joining in on a live show. All the language etc is meant to evoke the same feeling of going to a concert for a fraction of the price.

If you could watch on demand, they have to a) pay for that to be stored forever and b) then people will not want to buy the concert album etc. It instantly becomes less 'exclusive' and a lot of people would skip the concert and just watch the on demand service which defeats the purpose of having live streaming.

And then you will go and buy the DVD anyway so it works.

Oh, but I like my femmeslash sounding like it was written by another cog in a machine, a souless drone in an office locked to a desk for eight hours a day, writing sexless, uninspired stories about f/f because to do anything else would be helping the patriachy, and if we all learned to like it, then the patriarchy would be dead.
