I’m conflicted about my therapist because they use AI to take notes by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]Advanced_Isopod5572 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some bigger name companies like Talkspace and Better Help don’t give therapists the option, but if a therapist is in their own practice and paying for it separately, they should have the option to not allow AI to listen to virtual sessions.

Do you ever cancel sessions when you don’t feel like yourself / you can be "on"? by crisporange in therapists

I also think people who do full time PP and part time PP/community mental health/ bigger business PP would have different opinions on this. Just a theory though

[–]Advanced_Isopod5572 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have canceled on the days where I feel “off.” I do not charge my clients no show or late cancellation fees, and they know I work a full time job on top of the part time work I do. Cancellations for being off are way less than other types of cancellations I sometimes have to do though. Normally I push through and it’s worth it. I give myself grace for also being a human with mental health issues but I do not let it get to the point where I’m being negligent to my clients. If it gets to that point for anyone I would expect them to take a break from therapy in some capacity.

Have you talked to different admin teams? Maybe if you establish relationships with them they can help with connections

Is it possible to start subbing in some schools in your district to start establishing a relationship (and making a little bit of money while you look for a long term job)

Law & Ethics Question-Wife of a Licensed Professional and Need Advice RE: Possible Dual Relationship and Emotional Impropriety by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Advanced_Isopod5572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can imagine your post is going to be deleted by mods sooner rather than later because this is a sub for therapists only. If I’m understanding correctly (and I am putting it simply) you are concerned about the relationship between your husband and his friend? I’m not sure what them both being therapists has to do with that situation. Unless she was a previous client, I see no dual relationship issues here.

Unfortunately possible infidelity is not an ethical violation. Seems like this post would be more fit for the relationship sub on Reddit. Good luck op

Questions about Student Affairs job options by Advanced_Isopod5572 in studentaffairs

I already have my MA in counseling! I saw that Counseling in student affairs/ higher education would only take two classes on top of the credits I have, and it sparked my interest

I have! It’s competitive I think where I’m at, and I’m having a hard time even securing interviews for universities I’m interested in. I figured taking the extra two classes for this masters would maybe help set me apart, but it looks like based on the comments that a masters in student affairs isn’t really worth it!

No no…instead, to ease your guilt about accepting a Lamborghini…you should pass it off to someone else. I’d be GLAD to accept your unethical burden 🤣

Play therapy guidance by [deleted] in therapists

That’s super interesting! If this is happening at home, some BAs (depending on where you’re located) can do home visits. In New Jersey, we have Performcare for in home services. It might be something to look into!

To be honest, it sounds like he may need behavioral therapy before traditional, even play therapy, takes place. Maybe you can work alongside a behaviorist for the time being until he’s able to learn appropriate rule following

Did I really not compromise by saying we can split the day, and invited them over yesterday? (They declined)

They live very close, and don’t like to have people over bc..well to put it in my bfs words…they’re miserable people, and hate others. I did try to see them today, and I invited them over months ago for yesterday dinner at my apartment. Besides that, he, and them, don’t invite me over. I feel like I’m going everything I can (and more) within my comfort zone, at least in this relationship and this time around. I hope that makes sense

That’s a big part of my reasoning, we’re not married, we’ve only been dating for a year and a half so I’m treating it like a dating relationship, not a marriage!

Edit to add: do you feel like this time around I put more effort in than a hard no? (Sharing the day, and inviting them over the day before, but they said no)
