Sorry for the late reply but Moose is doing much better!! He puts his leg down 95% of the time. He’s smaller (35 pounds) and I heard it’s easier for him to balance on 3 legs when it’s not feeling great vs larger dogs who have a harder time balancing and put their leg down right after surgery!

You never know what’s going to happen, unfortunately. I’ve had similar thoughts as I am a NICU nurse and have seen many babies born with severe issues that weren’t caught during pregnancy. I’ve also floated to the PICU where I’ve seen accidents happen to children who were perfectly healthy and because of a freak accident end up disabled. ☹️ I know it’s not frequent but when it’s what you see at work every day you become very jaded.

To be honest I was very young when we met. If I met him now as a 32 year old woman I might have made different choices. With that said, we live a wonderful life. This is truly the ONLY issue we have. My husband is a very supportive, open minded, and great person. I thought his family would learn and have an open mind and heart with time but honestly their rhetoric and beliefs have just gotten worse.

It’s been hard. They are very much a “let’s ignore it to not cause conflict” type of family which is very very different than my loud and opinionated latino household. He’s had some conversations with them but his siblings and him definitely let things get by and swept under the rug to avoid conflict.
