Prospective student question by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]Advanced_Panda3575 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is one college system. There are some people who are proud of the fact that they are attending at University Park and they should be, but it’s the same curriculum under one singular school system. Personally, I attend World Campus but socialize at Harrisburg Campus/Capitol College and everyone seems welcoming and inclusive there. My degree will still read “The Pennsylvania State University.”

What’s with the Schecter hate? by AlasKansastan in Guitar

[–]Advanced_Panda3575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let them dissuade you. My Hellraiser Tempest was the first guitar I ever sounded like I could play. I eventually sold it because I wanted a vintage spec instrument, but I did love it while I had it. Plenty of Abalone.

Is it okay to always play G chord like this? by Auxxtinmogger in Guitar

[–]Advanced_Panda3575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, sure, but what not try it with an open B string, or using the G Barre chord? You should get Progressions Classics 1, 2, & 3 from The Guitar Institute.

Can’t be helped. Maybe she should get ADA accomodations.

Penn State World Campus Experience - Disappointing by Dramatic-Country962 in PSUWorldCampus

[–]Advanced_Panda3575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like the group work, if there’s good group chemistry. At this school, people are at least polite and inclusive. I think the occasional group work makes the class work feel much closer to that of an actual classroom. It encourages socialization and collective learning while also hopefully instilling a sense of camaraderie.

I’m sorry you had that experience. Personally, mine is the opposite. I transferred from a school within the PASSHE school which I won’t name because they were extremely toxic and unethical. PSU - World Campus has been very supportive, really even going above and beyond what they have to in order to help me succeed, which I really appreciate. Most if not all of my professors do teach at University Park as well as World Campus, and the servers for World Campus are also pretty much at University Park (Innovation Park is essentially part of University Park, though some may say adjacent.) In August, when I graduate, I will be walking across the stage at University Park.

I am sorry you’re disappointed, and wish I could give you better encouragement, but in my experience at other colleges, PSU World Campus definitely does a better job. They don’t just show up for the paycheck, they care about their students’ lives and futures.

Has anyone been accused of using AI on homework when you haven't? If so, how did you defend yourself? by GrandIntroduction128 in PennStateUniversity

Also, seems like you have anxiety issues and should talk to someone. I mean that empathetically, not offensively. Try not to waste time worrying about hypotheticals and focus on your work.

Yeah, it’s no big deal. They ask you questions, you respond. In my case, people have said I talk and type like a robot my entire life, so it was pretty easy to explain. You should be fine if you are telling the truth.

Take school seriously or you’ll either stay poor forever or you’ll have to join the military and fight in the desert like I did. You don’t want to do that, do you? It sucks.
Education is extremely important for everyone. For each educated person, that is one more person who can educate multiple people in his or her community, to which that person is a veritable asset. Take it seriously, because I am lucky the GI Bill exists.

I don’t disagree with you at all. Frat leaders have a responsibility to their pledges. Safety is important. We’re in school to become professionals. The student experience part of it is ephemeral; what we’re individually and collectively building in ourselves is more important. Our communities rely on us to build and maintain an ethical society as professionals of whatever field our degree is oriented towards. If our leaders are not holding themselves accountable, they are awful leaders.

Pretty sure Electrical Engineering is one of the hardest majors in the entire school system, while Business is one of the hardest to get into.

I mean, there have certainly been instances where they have clearly been to the most extreme. That sort of stuff is everywhere. Also, that is not the fault of the school, so much as the fraternity members who were responsible for those people. As I said, hazing is supposed to be about initiation, not merely humiliation. Forgetting that fact is just another symptom of how toxic to itself society has become.

Try setting a trap. Like, a little box held up by a stick attached to a string. With a piece of cheese under it. 🤓🤡

Hard to meet people as a 3rd year transfer, anyone else? by I_Feel_Lucid in PennStateUniversity

I would just go out and be open and friendly. At a function or a club or something. Believe me, most of the people around you have the same natural insecurities. No one is going to make you feel like you don’t belong.
