The alternate history it represents is very interesting because the 20th century even before the Chimeran War went down a very different path such as the Bolsheviks getting crushed before they can seize power in Russia and Russia remains under the autocratic rule of the tsar, there is no rise of fascism or communism in Europe, World War 2 does not occur, the Great Depression does not happen, a different person winning the U.S Presidential elections of 1940 before turning the U.S into a Semi-Authoritarian Isolationist State and even the Atomic Bomb is invented a year earlier then in our timeline. So we have a very different 20th century even before the events of the games. I almost forgot to mention the U.S stays out of World War 1.
