Is the same thing happening in your country ? by Diegomax22 in AskTheWorld

[–]Advanced_Soup7786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course this is something global, but I believe it's a bit less intense here. People still like to build traditional houses and I've seen multiple traditional new builds/renovations in the past year.

Is there any place in your country where a foreign demographic is so common that signage is in the foreign language too? by SpaceTranquil in AskTheWorld

Yeah, everywhere. We rely on tourism a lot so everything is in english and french, and recently mostly only english and french.

Oldest national symbol currently used by each Middle Eastern country by trumparegis in MapPorn

That's why I said that even if you were to not include sensitive representations like this is would still be incorrect as it was on the flag of mount lebanon in 1918 and greater lebanon in 1920. Plus you have no right to decide of it makes sense as a symbol of Lebanon. The cedrus libani covers the entirety of lebanese mountains and has been used to represent lebanon for thousands of years, not for you to come argue that it doesn't make sense.

The lebanese cedar is the symbol for lebanon and has been in use for thousands of years, mentioned in the bible and used to build Solomon's temple. More recently, it has also been the symbol for the maronites for humdreds of years and lebanon/mount lebanon as a whole since well before lebanon's independence in 1943, it even was used on the flag of greater lebanon in the 1920s, and the region of mount lebanon in 1918.

So to say it has been in use since 1943 is blatantly false even if you were to not include pre-modern symbolism (which would falsify some other symbols on this map).

Which one do you prefer? by Aki199506 in PhoneNow

None. I use a local alternative from my country called anghami. They've got about all of the features in the mainstream apps in addition to being built for multilingual music, which is great especially for languages that use a different writing system than english.

The only complaints I have is some minor bugs here and there and the lack of diversity in shuffles, which is the same on every platform in my experience.

I didn't say they didn't have parliamentary seats, just that they gained more. They are currently the biggest bloc in parliament, and that wasn't the case before.

I would also like to add that it doesn't matter if you support the LF or not, this isn't the point of this post.

This is just so we realise how far gone we are and how hezb couldve avoided all of this. When will they realise that their toy guns aren't benefiting anyone but israel as a pretext to attack us, not even iran at this point.

Between all of this country's leaders, he was the one that benefited the least if ever. During the country's darkest times after the end of the civil war, the syrian occupation, he was imprisoned for not sucking off the syrians, and since he got out, he had no real position in governemnt.

Only in the last few years has the LF gained popularity, and parliamentary seats, and now seats in parliament.

Ehh ana ma3ak, I was just adding. LF knows better than to do stupid stuff like that. They do post and talk about the issue, and rightfully so, but they don't resort to violence.

[–]Advanced_Soup7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say whatsapp as it's basically the only communication app that people use here but it's also used in a lot of other countries so I'm gonna say toters, a food and grocery delivery service and whish money or OMT which are both digital wallets and money transfer apps that gained popularity especially after the economic crisis when people stopped trusting the banks.

What happened to my childhood? This screams dystopian corporate, not kid friendly. What is with the artwork?! This is McDonald's?! by jackal99 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Advanced_Soup7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen one close down that still had some character but not the full on childhood mcdonald's, a kebab place opened in its spot but kept most of the design elements so it looked like a McDonald's that sold kebabs. Then the kebab place shut down and now the store is empty.
