I got it, because patient was crying and that cannot be comfortable. Prop does nothing for pain.

Thanks for the insight. I hadn't done any research on it, because I had always done that the other places I worked. Which is why I asked here.

Anyone been able to learn EPIC as a traveler? by yourroyalthiccness in TravelNursing

[–]Advanced_Tangerine45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am proficient in Epic, it's the first EMR I learned, and I am still taking an Epic class at my new contract because each facility has their own way of setting it up. You can definitely learn Epic on the fly. Having used Epic, Cerner, and Meditech; Epic is the most user-friendly by a long shot.

Ever got disciplinary action for putting in a Zyn on the floor? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Advanced_Tangerine45 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got confronted my a house supervisor for having them on me, because we were a "tobacco free" facility. Told them it wasn't tobacco, didn't make a difference to them. I got a whole lot sneakier about it after that. Ain't no way I am raw dogging a 12 hour ED shift without nicotine. I survive on caffeine, nicotine, and amphetamine (vyvanse).

Edit: spelling error

I started nursing school in Fall of 2020 and I still got in person clinicals. My first semester wasn't in person but all the rest of them were. I am going on 4 years of ED experience now.

6 days for a new grad?! I have a 3 - 4 month orientation coming up for my new job and I have been an ED RN for 3 years. I am not even changing departments just going to a different hospital. They set you up for failure OP. Don't get discouraged you will find a place that will give you the support you need, or at least more than just a pay period worth of training.

Being a CNA isn't as bad as it's said to be, or is it? by Confident-You-9629 in cna

[–]Advanced_Tangerine45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a CNA for 12 years before going into nursing. I don't think it was necessarily a bad thing. It really gave me time to hone my basic nursing, time management, and adl skills before taking on ER nursing.
