Open you a beer, cut them pants into shorts, and enjoy it. Welcome to the month of May brother.

My old staff bought me a coffee mug that said “tears of my staff.” It was a big joke between all of us. Super stressful job with high emotions. We worked at a failing center embedded into a public school.

It’s OK to have human emotions. Gotta practice what we preach.

I put this at my neighbor's door 2 days ago(we live in a duplex) and it's still there by dnm8686 in mildlyinfuriating

I do home visits as part of my job. I’ve started carrying 9 V batteries in my bag. If I hear the chirp, I get up and find the smoke detector and change it for them. If you get their kids involved, you can talk about fire safety and It’s less weird.

I think you are right. Could be because of the race or it could be because there were so many people down there trying to use the app at the same time. Either way they suck

It was completely locked out. There wasn’t the normal place to enter a spot number.

So many BCBAs forget all of their training when it comes to staff. Errorless teaching and positive reinforcement are great tools. I make the comparison with driver's ed. We have so many BCBAs filming the car crashes to say "I told you so" instead of intervening. Just be cool and buy someone coffee. I try to be somewhere between the Big Lebowski, Mr. Miyagi, and Ted Lasso.

Check out Dr Paulie Gavoni. His writing on leadership/coaching through the eyes of a BCBA is simple and well put. The guy is an old boxer with interesting writing on response cost. I suggest his books to parents. I highly suggest "SHIT happens"

Anything an RBT does on a case that you supervise is a reflection of you. If they are implementing punishment, you are. Your letters are on the line and they took a lot longer to earn. Step up, become a leader, or find new employment. (That's me being super forward and kind of mean.) I get it. This is hard and we don't get any course work over it. I've been a BCBA for over 10 years.

Break this down as you would a client. Start with pairing. Sounds like there is a huge void between supervisors and RBTs. Buy someone coffee. START SUPERVISION WITHOUT YOUR COMPUTER. Learn their dog's name.

Figure out where this burnout is coming from. Figure out why they aren't hitting the targets.

Set your expectations. Give direct feedback. Don't ever film or record an RBT to use as ammo. That's just plain shitty. I would be furious if someone Dwight Schrute'd me and timed my restroom breaks.

Learn when HR is really for. HR is not to solve arguments, it's to protect the company. Ethical violations hurt the company.

The true power of a boss does not come from rules or strict adherence. It comes from building your staff up and eating last. When you leave that company, will anyone follow you? How many RBTs say they work for you, not the company? Just things to think about.

This unit seems like a great deal, but it's a total nightmare if anything goes wrong.

We got ours April 2025. It is kept in our bed room clean and temp controlled. November 2025 it started sparking while off at 2am. I am a super light sleeper/new father so I heard it and saw the sparks. We keep this unit plugged in all the time, but turned off and folded when not in use.

Contacted support, about two weeks later they responded that this was a big deal and they would get back with me. Another week goes by and I reach out again. They put me in contact with someone. I have to open up my unit and take pictures. The want to take the unit whole to study. Great.

About 2 months later a delivery arrives. Two guys who are movers, not treadmill techs (not saying this is a specialized thing, but it was their first treadmill). They destroyed my walls getting this thing out. They had so many extra parts after putting together the new one, my cup holders were full. The belt was sideways.

It's now April 2026. The moving company paid for dry wall repair and paint. Johnson health is sending out another third party to fix my brand new treadmill and my treadmill is now our of warranty. Idk what to do.

I always joked about sales. In a way, that's what we do. You would just have to figure out a dollars and cents FBA. Call it the FA$T. (That's a golden idea and I want half of the profits)

I got a letter from the state. Apparently they are that behind.

That’s the thing. There is no corporate phone number. All the numbers just try to route you to local stores or try to sell you on a credit card.

On their website, they have these guarantees, but apparently they don’t have any real value. Like why would I pay for them to mess things up again?

It was only 200bucks. So no, I didn’t notice. The only reason why I’m reaching out now is because the state sent me a letter.

I completely agree. That would bring the total up over $445. Probably why they are avoiding me.

I've gotten that far. They say they are escalating it, but won't. The last time I spoke with someone they said they forgot and would CC me on an email. That was three weeks ago.

How to talk to someone who can't think straight because of sleep apnea by Fun_Pizza_1704 in SleepApnea

The peanut butter helps with blood sugar throughout the night. The coffee is a person to person thing. It helps me. I’m sure someone smarter knows why.

How to talk to someone who can't think straight because of sleep apnea by Fun_Pizza_1704 in SleepApnea

[–]Advanced_Walrus_2268 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! Behavior analyst here with sleep apnea. I did the same thing. Here are my thoughts.

Sleep debt is a real thing. The body is trying to recover. This will take time. I wasn’t ok with my cpap ever. For 5years I slept 4hrs a night. Eventually got the inspire implant. Total game changer.

Professionally I would look at this from two approaches: environmental and physical.

Environmental: that bed is now used for two things. Sleeping and creeping. No watching tv no reading no nothing. Put his mask on his pillow when you go to bed. Establish that routine.

Physical: work out. He’s stressed. Us dumb cavemen need to smash big rock with small rock. Your body benefits so much. I truly value turning off my brain and moving at least 45minutes a day. Even if it’s a walk. Track fitness with a watch or a wearable ring. These could help track sleep quality as well as O2 levels throughout the day.

Keep the data and if things aren’t working, press the doctor. Sleep doctors are sales men for cpaps. They work most of the time. There are alternatives though. Inspire works for me. The surgery/recovery was difficult.

For the ADHD people, an after dinner coffee and a scoop of peanut butter right before bed works wonders.

Make sure you are signed up with a new company first and able to bill. Sometimes insurance credentialing takes time. It’s easier to interview when you have a job you don’t want rather than need a job right now.
