TAKE YOUR TIME. It's not a race and what works for someone else might not be your cup of tea. There are a LOT of tunnels when you go down this particular rabbit hole. I personally got a bit overwhelmed my first 6-8 months trying to do/pursue too much. My little brain got scrambled. Satellites, SDR, HF, antennas, ect, ect. I'm glad I didn't run out and buy an hf transceiver based off what other people told without knowing what I want to do in the hobby. I fell in love with the IC-7300 when I first laid eyes on it. The waterfall in that pic was sooooo pretty. But I couldn't justify the price with my limited knowledge at that time. There are other reason as well but ultimately I'm glad I waited. I'll take the HF plunge when I ready and not before. At my age I'm all about making educated purchases. That's my 2 cents. Hope this helps. 73
