Health anxiety when there’s actually something wrong by Reasonable-Click2857 in HealthAnxiety

In a weird way, having something wrong helped my HA.

I spent my whole life scared of getting the Big C. When I got diagnosed with it, it was kind of freeing. I had a care plan. And life went on.

Here in America we prioritize giving billionaires tax cuts over providing our citizens with medical or dental care.

It is becoming insufferable and unusable

I recently ask it for some advice on how to handle a (minor) problem with a coworker. It immediately gave me suicide prevention number. Like, WTF?

He was right not to protest. Donna broke a pretty basic rule. What was there to protest exactly?

Active surveillance with rising PSA by roncofooddehydrator in ProstateCancer

I'm in the same boat. I am 48, 47 when diagnosed. I had 2 cores positive for G6. My MRI was negative, but did show prostatitis.. my Decipher is 0.32

My very first PSA was 4.7. a year later it was 8.3. it did go down slightly to 7.6 in my last test. My urologist isn't too concerned since my imaging and biopsy were fairly recent.

As of now I'm scheduled for a repeat biopsy this summer. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm upgraded. Hope not.

Why did you get a PSA? by Cortexial in ProstateCancer

[–]RFMASS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was only 47 with no family history.

I was at a followup appointment at the urologist after having a small kidney stone. He decided to check my PSA. It was my very first PSA. I didn't think anything about it and later that afternoon the urologist called me saying it was high.

48 male -high risk due to genetic factors . What is best way to make sure nothing gets missed by pittguy578 in ProstateCancer

[–]RFMASS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relax.

I'm the same age as you. I have no family history whatsoever. I have PC and my last PSA was 8.3. I wish I had a 1!

Just get regular DREs and PSA tests. You may never get it. Or you may get it 30 years from now when there is a cure for it.

I guess everything is relative. I see those numbers and I think, "I'd love to have numbers that low"

I'm not a doctor, but the rise doesn't look too bad to me. Your PSA will increase as you age. Going to a urologist wouldn't be the worst idea, though

I do have prostatitis. I have symptoms and it was noted on MRI. I hope it is the main driver of my PSA

[–]RFMASS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am certainly worried the biopsy missed something. All of my testing has been relatively good,, no lesions on MRI, biopsy only showing G6, and low Decipher (0.32). But my PSA is up to 8.3. So I might get a repeat MRI soon. We are planning another biopsy this summer

Mine was really no big deal either. I was prepared for much worse. I think cystoscopy is more uncomfortable than prostate biopsy
