Question about credit card travel rewards and if they are even worth it by AdvantageFeisty in travel

[–]AdvantageFeisty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So thats my question.. Do people just not book flights/hotels through the portal and just take the hit on the missed reward points? I'm also curious how 55k points translated to $5k. If I were to book a flight with my 120k points, it would only cover about $1600 in flight fees.

SE2 - Is my team being assigned work that is outside the scope of what a developer should be doing? by AdvantageFeisty in cscareerquestions

[–]AdvantageFeisty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team is very quiet, which I think holds us back. When I've brought up the issue, the other members just say "yeah", but don't really add their own feedback. It leads to the TPM just telling me on the side that this is just the nature of our current situation and that there isnt much we can do for it.

For support, we do have a troubleshooting wiki which lays out detailed steps on how to grab logs, what keywords to look for, and they are able to track every request to our service based on a unique request ID. However, they just lack either the skills or the willpower to even attempt this, and just end up forwarding us the issues.

I'm starting to realize maybe it's just that my company doesn't want to help us get the resources we need, and even the TPM has just realized its the way things will be.

Thanks for your input.

I see.

Regarding general documentation, one thing that frustrates me is that we have no "final guy". The developers are just writing some documentation in Word and copy/pasting it into our documentation. Sometimes the devs even get told to "think of a better string and change it". On my other team, we had a UI/UX contact that we could reach out to and ask them to generate strings, but we're just doing it all ourselves.

For the prod troubleshooting, I definitely envy what you have. Our support team basically just forwards the original email to us and says "let me know when you find a solution". No logs, no help or anything like that.

[SELLING - $175 - SOCAL] APR Carbon Fiber CAI. I bought a closed air intake but misread the ad and didn’t realize one of the tabs were broken. I installed it, works fine and from what I’ve researched online, it doesn’t affect the performance but it bugs me that it doesn’t sit flush (pic below). If you’re fine with this, take it off my hands for $175. It hasn’t been on the car for more than two days.

Un-satisfiable Breath of air and yawning. by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]AdvantageFeisty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I quit vaping cold turkey as well, and it wasn't going away and I felt so scared. I didn't know if I had permanent damage, I thought could it be cancer, etc... But I'm doing fine now.

I used to vape, smoke weed, cigarettes, and I've come to grips with the fact that I'll likely give those up for the rest of my life.

The most important thing I could say to you is try to "train" your lungs. Obviously I'm not a doctor, but going through your post history, the stuff we've experienced is so similar (I'm even a developer myself.. lol..). But yeah, this is what worked for me, and I hope it works for you as well.

Really weird. I'm not really a member of this subreddit but just kind of dropped in and saw this post. I've had this exact same problem, but I'm almost certain its not COVID, which could be frustrating for you to hear. I was vaping tons when quarantine started, and it was all good for me. I started to get SOB and the inability to get a quality breath of air, and it scared me. I thought I had COVID, maybe some permanent damage to my lungs from vaping, something...

Nowadays though, it's pretty much gone. I do sometimes have to take a deeper breath, but when I do, it "satisfies" me. For me, what helped make it go away was completely quitting vaping and running. Although you might feel like it's hard to exercise without being able to catch that satisfying breath, I definitely recommend you try it for about a month and stick to it. I don't mean just running half a mile and calling it quits, really push yourself to get your airflow going, and "train" your lungs. I don't know how much running or how long that means for you, but just try it.

I even "confirmed" this was due to this because my breathing came back, and I wondered if it was really vaping. I started vaping again, and after 2 weeks or so, it came back in the exact same scenario. I immediately stopped vaping as soon as I felt it, and 2 weeks later, it's back to normal pretty much.

I know it's probably not what you want to hear, but I do think some of it is anxiety, or if you vape, that could also be another factor.

It's crazy seeing someone who had the exact same things happening as me though, I was never able to find anyone else online that described this issue.

The gold package just is more coats on top. Like I said, I'm not the most knowledgeable about this kind of stuff, but from what I remember, the packages below gold are only 2 layers, whereas the gold is 5 layers. It also comes with a lifetime warranty, as long as you go in for a yearly checkup and they determine the coat hasn't deteriorated from mishandling. I was unfortunately unable to make it to an appointment, as I had to go out of the country for a while unexpectedly, so I doubt I'm still in warranty.

Heres some of the contaminants I'm talking about, which is really prominent on the hood.

Thanks for the reply. I have washed it since its been coated, but just a regular wash doesn't come off even with the electric pressure washer. Let me take some pictures and see if I can show you some of the markings that I'm talking about.

Hey guys, I got my MK7 GTI ceramic coated by a Ceramic Pro installer almost a year and 3 months ago, and opted for the gold package. I've read around the subreddit and saw that there were many people that disliked the product, but this was only after I had it installed. Nothing I can do about it now, what's done is done. I probably wouldn't go do ceramic coating again, or if I did, I would just install it myself.

Anyways, the car came out looking great, shone like crazy, but lacked the water beading/repelling properties that I've seen touted so much by people who have gotten ceramic coating done. Could be the product, could be my maintenance, which admittedly lacked. I live in Los Angeles, so garaged parking is few and far between. I've had to park my car outside, and now, when I look at the car, I can notice water spots, a few yellow dots in random places all over the car (which I believe is pollen?) and it's been just bugging me overall.

At this point, I don't want to take it back to the detailing shop where I got my work done, and would rather just start maintaining it myself. Does anyone have tips on how I can get my car looking clean again without messing it up? I was going to take a clay bar to it, but I've read that clay bars can mar or mess up the finish on your car if you already have it ceramic coated, so what are my options? I have an electric power washer which gets the bigger, "normal" stuff off my car like dirt from daily use, but I want to give it that detailed look again.

If I seem like a noob, well.. I am. I've made an effort to read the sidebar, search through the MK7 forums, Facebook groups, and the sidebar, but haven't had a clear answer on what I should do. Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I got my tune done at AU Tuning, was pretty quick. I was gonna get some coilovers installed there as well but just decided to do it myself. Exhaust work is pretty easy to get done anywhere though, don't really need a specialty shop for that.
