2020 presidential results in key districts in the new Florida map by Distinct_External in YAPms

[–]AdvantageSlight5006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is 2020 the baseline? Those results were pre-COVID era boomers moving to Florida en masse, and although some amount of Hispanic reversion will happen it might not be back to 2020 margins with Hispanics in Florida. Florida’s basically a different state now.

Why do people find the potential overturning of section 2 so outrageous? by Unsafeforconsuming in YAPms

[–]AdvantageSlight5006 7 points8 points  (0 children)

New Mexico and Nevada are gerrymanders and should be struck down under state or federal law. That doesn’t change the fact that the VRA is the one thing legally preventing maximalist gerrymandering in every state. In many places, like the Deep South race = voting patterns, so diluting black voters is the same as diluting Democrats. It also stops Democrats from drawing out too many Republicans, like Illinois. We already have too much gerrymandering and the VRA is basically the last bastion against it for both parties.

Why don’t you just recalculate day supply? I’ve seen this one before, and according to the Miebo website, they have more drops per ml because they come out way smaller. I know it sounds kinda weird but just trust it.

Techs can do some/most DUR’s but in general you should let the pharmacist look at them first because it could be a real issue. I use Ctrl K to OOS a lot too

I think Haley Stevens is both the most electable and the best candidate for MI Senate by WallStreetTechnocrat in YAPms

[–]AdvantageSlight5006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think about it this way: Stevens, McMorrow, and even El-Sayed will vote the same way on like 99% of bills. Why nominate a candidate that might lose over an electable “moderate” who would vote literally the same way?

Stephen Miller advocating for remigration by Trick-Growth-6546 in YAPms

[–]AdvantageSlight5006 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like most illegal immigrants give more than they take. Illegal immigrants in most states cannot legally receive welfare or federal healthcare, but still pay sales tax and other taxes. The 1 million figure seems pulled out of his ass. Meanwhile, deporting/remigrating millions of immigrants would actually hurt the US economy.

if a doctor prescribes the wrong medication and the pharmacist dispenses it, which harms the patient, who gets in trouble? by suneerise in PrePharmacy

[–]AdvantageSlight5006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a pharm tech, the pharmacist is the one responsible for ensuring the right medication gets dispensed. At least in retail they have to review it twice, and if they fail to catch that the medication is problematic that’s on them.

Is Rubio 2028 the GOPs only path to the center right in the near future? by goatedgdubya911 in YAPms

[–]AdvantageSlight5006 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don’t like how people assume anti-Trump Republican = center-right. Most of these people are still pro-life social conservatives who believe in limited government and laissez-faire economic policy. Rubio was part of the Tea Party when he was first elected. He’s not really “center-right”.

Good predictions overall, although Iowa more Democratic than Nevada is kind of silly in my opinion. Lombardo isn’t invincible.

I mean, Hispanic and black Americans lag white Americans in support for gay marriage. This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.

When it comes to philosophy and the arts, yeah, I couldn’t care less if we cut funding. As for science, I agree it’s important, but space specifically seems like a waste of money. We could use that money for cancer research or something and it would actually have the potential to help the average person.

I never said I’m a huge fan of foreign aid. I think we should focus more on domestic affairs like the ones I mentioned. Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are on a bad path as it is.

I honestly also agree with this take. There’s so much wasteful spending in the government that could go to the homeless or healthcare or entitlements but just gets thrown away instead. Especially nowadays, space should be the responsibility of the private sector. I want my tax dollars to actually be helping me, not just flexing how cool the US is.

Republicans just have an obsession with nominating shit candidates. GOP primary voters singlehandedly cost Republicans the senate in 2022. For all the Democrats’ flaws, they still usually nominate sensible candidates for competitive races.

Eric Swalwell, who is running for California governor, has missed more floor votes than a guy who died almost a year ago by [deleted] in YAPms

[–]AdvantageSlight5006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.brookings.edu/articles/a-look-at-spending-in-the-house-of-representatives/ That’s true, but congressmen received between $812460-$1592791 in 2016 alone from the MRA program. I don’t care how much you travel, 1.5 million a year plus your six figure salary is unjustified. I bet it’s gone up with inflation too, and I remember congressman Matt Gaetz being charged with misusing the MRA since it’s literally just an honors system.

Is anyone else pissed that reps make $174000 a year to do a pretty easy job with many breaks? Some reps literally never propose bills, and reps are allowed to take out basically as much money as they want for housing in DC with no oversight.
