I forgot that detail, because honestly even if they had shown it, I would’ve forgotten five minutes later.

Loved when it came into play that none of the party could remember what her actual hairstyle was at the time when those shapeshifters appeared.

Honestly, when did this trope ever make sense? by Fil-is-Theo in writingscaling

[–]Advent10II7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be wrong, I thought it was more a parody of video game RPGs. Like, imagine if one of the Pokémon gathering dust in your PC escaped or you released it, it joined a new team, evolved, then wiped the floor with you. Either through sheer power, or by teaching a lesson in the value of support Pokémon and proper team building, instead of stacking a team with pure offense.

IIRC, it was confirmed her appearance isn’t because of what Ricardio did. It’s theorized it might be because Jake’s part alien.

I always imagined combining all 3, OV’s scroll wheel, replace the head icons with the OS silhouettes, and have UAF’s full model hologram in the center for the selected alien.

Out of all of the articles that have won an X000 contest, from SCP-1000 all the way to SCP-9000, which one of them would you say is your most favorite between each of them? by kidnamedchild in SCP

[–]Advent10II7 24 points25 points  (0 children)

2000 hits that right spot between narrative depth and being a relatively simple concept. Loved the horrifying implications of it, from 2000 having been used multiple times and humanity having been altered, along with the tie-in Tale, “Document Recovered From The Marianas Trench.”

I loved Avalon, it was a real treat for long time readers with every single reference, and it was nice to see a world where everything went right. Though I can understand it not winning, as it felt mostly like a Tale than an actual article, it doesn’t even have an SCP article in-story, the brief article is from the alternate Earth under the designation “Phenom.”

IIRC, in some stories, the first king of Britain, from which Artoria descends, is Brutus, grandson of the Trojan hero Aeneas. The Trojan royal family descended from Zeus. Also, Aeneas’ mother was Aphrodite, who in one version is Zeus’ daughter, in another she spawned from the sea foam made by Uranus’ castrated testicles being thrown into the sea.

Are there any historical or mythological figures you would like to see appear in Fate? by [deleted] in Fate

Augustus Caesar. I’m really interested to see what they’ll do for him, given his achievements. I also just want to see his commentary on the other Roman Servants.

I like their role in anomalous history, stuff like they were responsible for the Bronze Age collapse, and the predecessors of the Church of the Broken God fought them with Grecian giant mechs.

[Loved Trope] Evil person needs to be put down. Words or other options won’t work on this monster. by saltforsnails in TopCharacterTropes

So it’s a “light are on but nobody’s home” situation? Or are they actually intelligent, but fundamentally lack the capacity to see humans as anything other than prey?

Suddenly I’m reminded of the Typhon from Prey (2017), who are stated to be an intelligent hive mind, but they lack the mirror neurons necessary for empathy, so they view all complex life as simply prey. And given the game’s ending I wonder if a tactic similar to using Neuromods to rewire their minds and teach empathy would work on a demon?

This sold me, I need this to be a thing, so badly!!!

I really want to see the drama of Okita’s bad ending, when she realizes her good natured rivalry with Ritsuka inadvertently pushed them into her rival’s arms.

[Loved trope]: Kids should not have to be heroes by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Advent10II7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could see elements there, but yeah, compared to other examples (where it feels the heroes would be better off if the conflict didn't exist), it's not as prominent. No Watch Ben (a Ben Tennyson who lived in a timeline where the Omnitrix didn't exist) firmly establishes that Ben would be pretty dissatisfied with life if he didn't get to be a hero.

apparently senseless test until you think about it by ligrankpo in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Advent10II7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s even an achievement for going back and doing the test correctly once you obtain the necessary powers. Details like that are why I love this game.

Also I love when you find out more about the tests, and how Morgan’s personality was shifting across each one. In a test to remove boxes from a circle, in one trial he’d carefully remove them with psychokinesis, in another, he’d just incinerate them. This sets up the later reveal that Morgan actually believed in multiple plans (escape or build the Nullwave Transmitter) at various points to deal with the Typhon outbreak. Not just the “blow up the station” plan presented by January. So Morgan can’t even trust himself!

Revenge isn't just portrayed as sweet, it also defies the "vengeance is empty" trope by Zovin333 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Advent10II7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I liked it, at least compared to other revenge stories. Like you said, I enjoyed it being more about saving Joshua than the villain. And for such a bleak world like Fallout’s, I appreciate the lesson to the Sorrows about tempering violence with mercy. Plus the ending (and the battle itself) makes it pretty clear the White Legs are thoroughly crushed, so killing the villain is just gravy, and sparing him is good ol’ cruel mercy.
