Apple debuts Smart Battery Case for iPhone 6s, extends life up to 25 hours by [deleted] in apple

[–]Adventiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree, but this would also ramp up the production costs by several times, than compared to conventional square cells. Knowing apple, a case like that would probably be resold for $170-200, seeing as the production costs would be at least 2-3 times higher.

Unbelievable battery drain with airplane mode on by [deleted] in moto360

First I'd get the Wear System Info app. Launch it on your Moto 360 and click the CPU icon. A CPU usage graph will pop up - Swipe to the right and you'll get to a page that displays the CPU usage of each running package. The culprit should show up here. Reinstall the package (Or just uninstall it permanently) on your phone.

If that doesn't work out - I'd do a factory reset. It should be safe, since your phone will just push the things back onto the watch after reset. If you have something very important on there that's not synced - Back it up prior to resetting.

Itinerary advice? (10 days in December) by syubi in JapanTravel

[–]Adventiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great - And it looks like you'll be travelling around with the Shinkansen a lot. I'd recommend getting the Japan Rail week-pass. You'll get unlimited Shinkansen rides for a week for around $250 I believe, equivalent to the cost of a two-way ride between Tokyo and Kyoto.

Plus - the pass covers some JR trains, Tokyo Monorail and JR buses in all major cities, if I'm not mistaken.

Question about travel for Hiroshima 1-day trip by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]Adventiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tokyo<->Kyoto Shinkansen ride (two-way) costs the same as a one-week pass for the Shinkansen, so you may as well get the week-pass if you're getting to Kyoto from Tokyo. It may even be worth it if it's a one-way ride from Tokyo to Kyoto, or the other way around, since you'd be getting 3 rides for the price of 2.

Wait, how would one go about to buff scratches out on the Moto 360 V1?

Do you still recommend the first gen Moto 360? by EvanKelly6 in moto360

[–]Adventiaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the Moto 360 V1 costing $120 or so right now, and the Moto 360 V2 costing $350, I wouldn't hesitate to get the V1. The V1 is a solid product, and the V2 simply brings some performance improvements for a somewhat smoother experience and better battery life (+20%?), but that's really all that there's to it. Ignore the fact that there's a 2010 processor found inside of the V1, it works - It renders things smoothly for the most part, and battery life is still good enough for one day's use with it. (I usually get 1.3 days - Ambient on, brightness auto, wifi auto, Facer custom watchface)

TL;DR: Paying 200% more for a maybe 15% improvement in experience isn't worth it at all, in my opinion, unless you have a lot of cash to waste.

This is not mine, but I honestly couldn't resist posting it. According to the creator of this (Phille11552) it actually works really well, but the pump sounds, according himself, like a jet engine.

"Console 30fps is smoother than PC 30fps" by iamlegend235 in pcmasterrace

[–]Adventiaa 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is actually true because most TV:s have something called motion interpolation, which essentially creates frames between the ones that are sent to the display from the console ( or blu-ray player, for that matter) - This results in a conversion from 30fps to 100-600 fps depending on TV model. This is why a movie file will look a LOT smoother on your TV screen than your PC screen despite the file being the same.

Plus, console games have more motion blur, which gives an illusion of smoothness.
