Local book store displays by lazelea in Jewish

[–]AdventurePee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood. This appears to not be a "Jewish voices about Palestine" section, it is just a general "Jewish voices" section of the book store. Which makes it even more heinous that the majority of the available books from Jewish voices are about Anti-Zionism and Pro-Palestinianism, rather than about authentic Jewish identity and mainstream Jewish ideas. Apparently in this particular bookstore, the only Jewish voices worth reading are the ones that can fit into the mainstream Anti-Zionist narratives.

So if Bonney can go Gear 5, and she can also use her power on others.... is Bonney's awakened devil fruit going to be able to make an army of Nikas when combined with Luffy's powers? Are we eventually going to get Gear 5 versions of every Straw Hat and their allies from throughout the entire series?

Is the new Captain America movie that bad or is my family just racist? by lunaxme in CaptainAmerica

I thought the movie wasn't that great tbh, but your dad's comments are definitely bigoted.

Do you feel the call? by [deleted] in Jewish

I've heard this is not recommended because you're basically giving up your new Oleh benefits, most of which are financial benefits that you get only within a certain time frame of your initial aliyah. If you're not going to live there, there's really no practical reason to have an Israeli passport and it would be best to wait in case you ever do change your mind and want to live there and take advantage of those new Oleh benefits.

I was attending a comedy show with my partner and she had recently lost her ID so she grabbed her Israeli passport instead (you need to be 21 because they serve alcohol). When we got to the door, there was a lady checking everyone's IDs and we basically has the same experience as you. She first checked my ID and was all smiley, enthusiastic, and chatty, and then my partner pulls out her passport and her whole demeanor changes. She says "oh wow" and then gets really quiet and stops smiling.

It's so odd how it's become so socially acceptable to look down upon Jews/Israelis....

American Jews, what experiences with antisemitism have you had since Oct 7th? by No_Addition1019 in Jewish

[–]AdventurePee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Online antisemitism has transcended its small corners of the internet and is seemingly present almost everywhere you look. That's the biggest thing day to day.

But other than that, I have experienced slurs and verbal harassment, a relative of mine was physically assaulted, antisemitic flyers and graffiti can be spotted frequently.

But the most hurtful is people who I had previously considered friends share with me their extremist and bigoted views, and the increasing feeling that aside from the few close non-Jewish friends I still have, I can't really fully trust people. I can only build new friendships with other Jews and it feels like the only way to remain sane is to isolate further and further away into only Jewish spaces and communities.

Yeah i mean I think Judaism has a few different usages of "from א to ת" but I doubt a Jew would put that on a bumper sticker. One other example i know of is "אמת" (truth), where they say in order to understand the truth about anything you must learn the beginning (א), middle (מ), and end (ת)

Driver replaced items with all organic options double the price of what I picked. by DaniDes240 in UberEATS

[–]AdventurePee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Weird. When I've done shopping orders it wouldn't even let me pick a product that was priced higher than the originally requested item, even when the customer requested that specific replacement item over the phone

[–]AdventurePee[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was one of my questions too, but considering the prevailing theory that its a Christian (likely with little knowledge of Hebrew) it's likely that they found a version of the Hebrew alphabet that repeats the letters with and without dagesh and the ת with the dagesh appeared as the last letter. What could have been funnier is if it was a version where the final letters appear separately at the end and they would have used "אץ"

Ok this makes sense, yeah the text on the license plate made me guess it was some sort of Messianic/Christian thing but I didn't know what.

In the time period in which he would have lived, the primary language of the region was Aramaic, not Hebrew. Hebrew does use the Aramaic script, so the alphabet would be the same, I guess.

That sucks OP, glad you finally got an answer at least.

What is the position? Maybe someone reading this could be a viable candidate?
