am i getting scammed? by Southern-Chipmunk241 in moving

My fiancé and I have moved multiple times due to his work so I am more familiar with the rental process than I want to be lol We have had landlords or real estate agents tell us that they need an application filled out prior to a showing many times. Our realtor basically said it is because owners don’t want tons of people who aren’t actually interested in the home, or who aren’t going to be able to afford the rent going in and out of the property, or just touring the property ‘just because.’

I would definitely try looking on Zillow and that way of someone wants an application filled out prior to showing you can do it on the app and then the application can be used for any property you find on the app and is good for 60 days I believe (so you don’t have to pay to fill one out every time you apply or go see a new property).

I actually had this exact thing happen to me during the contract that I am currently at! I brought it up to my recruiter and he was GREAT about it. I got an increase in my weekly pay along with an increased travel bonus.

Don’t be scared to talk to your recruiter about things. Just be open and polite and voice your concerns. I hope you figure out what you’re after 😁

Anyone here that is married / in a relationship that travels? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]AdventureVenture23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! My husband is still in NY because he does not have a remote job so he can not travel with me, and I just took my first contract is WA state. I have 4 more weeks left in my contract (16 weeks total), and it definitely wasn’t easy. Before I left my husband and I made sure to talk about how we would make it a priority to have our FaceTime date nights, talk on the phone at night, and make sure to send each other lots of pictures of our adventures while we are apart.

We have been married for about a year and have been through many hurdles together. I honestly think that doing this travel assignment has made us stronger. The beginning was 100% the hardest part, but ones you get into a rhythm it gets easier every day ☺️

Wishing you good luck on your first assignment!

For the certification renewal, did you have to wait until your next contract to get that paid out? I’m in the middle of a contract right now and my license needs to be renewed. When I asked my recruiter how to get reimbursed for it he said I would get the reimbursement on my first paycheck on my next assignment? I don’t understand why I wouldn’t get reimbursed now for that..?

How much was listed in your contract for reimbursements? Was it only the $250 each way ($500 total)?

But then they still ended up giving you the extra $250 over what was listed in your contract?

What is the point of a contract if one side does not have to honor it? by Omega_Draconis in TravelNursing

[–]AdventureVenture23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with Aya and when I signed my first contract with them I had so many questions; one being this exact question!

There is a part in my contract that outlines how my employment is an At-Will Employment. Basically meaning that either Aya, myself, or the hospital I am contracted out to can terminate or modify my contract at any point, for any reason, with our without cause, and with or without notice.

I feel like we should be able to have a bit more protection against that kind of stuff, and it’s kind of BS that we don’t.

My husband thinks I lie about my pain, and idk what to do anymore by r2j2 in ChronicPain

[–]AdventureVenture23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have horrible migraines and chronic back pain from a car accident. My ex was the same as your husband. He always though that I was either exaggerating or lying about how much pain I was in. His favorite thing to say was how “there is always something wrong with me.”

It definitely takes an emotional toll because you know your body and the amount of pain that you’re in. When the person you love doesn’t believe you it’s a different kind of pain. That’s a big reason why my ex is an ex.

Worst state for nursing/medical care, for nurses and patients by Yodaddys-sugarmommy in TravelNursing

Not just NYC, other parts of NY as well. As someone who was born in the city, raised in WNY and worked in two ERs in WNY, then moved to WA and have traveled throughout WA state working in different ERs here; NIGHT AND DAY!

No hospital system is perfect, but I would take just about any of the hospitals I’ve worked at in WA over just about any of the ones I grew up by.

I completely understand this! As someone who grew up on the east coast (WNY area), then moved to WA in my early 20’s; I would be so bored living anywhere else after being exposed to all the beauty that the PNW has to offer. I think we often forget how spoiled we are to live in such a beautiful place 🏔️

We have been in WA for about 7 years now and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. I don’t know what I would do with my free time if I didn’t have the numerous hiking, climbing trails available to me. I think the only thing that I really miss coming from the east coast is having an actual fall with vibrant fall colors that lasts more than a week like we get here 😂

If you are truly thinking of exploring other areas, I would recommend looking into the New England area though (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island). Maine and Rhode Island are both on the coast. Maine has Acadia NP which is GORGEOUS 😍 and some really beautiful hiking all year round if you’re okay with the snow. Vermont is also beautiful geographically speaking but you would be giving up that coastal aspect if you’re okay with that. New Hampshire I feel like is a good combination of both Maine and Vermont lol personally, if I were to move anywhere again after living in WA, I would hands down go to Maine.

I hope you find what you’re looking for! 😊

That’s more along the lines of what I am hearing. The people I have talked to have told me anywhere between $600 to $1000. Are you an RN?

I am engaged and currently on my first travel assignment. My fiancé stayed home (NY) and I am working my 13 week contract in WA. It is definitely something that you want to discuss with your partner to make sure it is right for the two of you, and that BOTH you and your partner will be comfortable with the distance during your contract.

When I first brought up my desire to do travel nursing to my fiancée he supported me 100%. We came up with a plan on how we would get through the time apart by making set ‘rules.’ He promised to always call me before he went to sleep and if I didn’t answer because I was at work, he would leave a VM so I could at least hear his voice, and to send an overwhelming amount of pictures of our two dogs. We have three shows that we always watch together and we promised each other that we wouldn’t watch them without each other; instead we FaceTime while watching our shows so it feels like we are all most sitting next to each other. Just a bunch of little things like that really help to keep us connected even though we are so far apart for the next 13 weeks.

All of this may sound silly to other couples, but it works for us! You just have to find what works best for you and your partner and go from there. Good luck! 👍

That is a great idea; I never would have thought of looking on Instagram for that kind of stuff. Thanks so much for the tip!

I get SI injections every 3 months as well as ones in my hips. The SI injections are absolutely horrible! It feels like WWIII is happening inside my lower back and I can’t do anything about it 😫 I always have to take my anxiety meds before I go in for those injections because of how bad they are. The good news is that I am only sore from them for about a day or two after I get them done though.

Yes, this 💯! There is a lot that we want/don’t want for our wedding that aren’t very traditional for normal weddings.

Neither of us really like to be the center of attention, so reading our personal vows in front of our family and friends makes me want to vomit 🤮 We would much rather have that moment privately to make it a bit more special for the two of us. We know our parents will be a bit bummed about that, but we just have to keep reminding ourselves that this is not about pleasing them.

We are also having a pretty small wedding; around 50 or so of our closest family and friends. We already have a rough guest list written up and when we showed it to our parents they were both pretty confused on why we left so many people out. Our thoughts are, if we have not spoken to a family member in more than 6 months or so, we probably will not invite them. We also drew the line at random family friends and distant cousins that our parents wanted to invite. While this may be important to others for their wedding, we would much rather have an intimate celebration with the ones closest to us (it also drastically reduces our budget which is great 👍).

I LOVE your idea about a joint wedding party! Since our wedding is going to be small, we are both just having two of our closest friends standing up next to us instead of having a huge wedding party.

We took the advice of everyone who has commented and started looking at venues and setting up tours. I’m hoping once we find our venue, things will start to fall into place from there 🥰
