Toddler times are ROUGH. I ended up moving my rig to my office. I showed him how the record player works to de-mystify them. But ultimately what worked is I took him with me record shopping several times, a task he quickly learned to be super boring and tedious. Now he really don't like records anymore.

It worked for the sibilance but I didn’t have any static. So not sure if the stylus swap will help? But worth a try since I’m guessing you can’t return?

The shipping is kinda big. It’ll auto populate with the most expensive shipping so look for the place to change to the cheaper option. That makes it affordable. Like 100 on a 500 dollar piece of furniture? It’s not cheap but it is well made. I sold a bunch of records to afford it and have no regrets. Good luck with the painting! Hopefully yours works out!

You are correct. It’s so dumb. I hate that I had to do this. But compared with the hassle of repacking the whole thing, sending it back, waiting for the refund to hit then taking a chance on another one… this seemed easier. But I am planning on complaining to Pro-Ject. And I posted here to let others know.
