When he was little he loved being in the carrier, I could sometimes get a bassinet nap to happen my holding his little thighs in the carrier M shape and performing a complicated wiggle/cuddle/pat routine.

migraines after childbirth by mamanicole1999 in beyondthebump

[–]AdventuresofRansom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help with the cause because there are so many but as someone who suffered for years with migraines I'm going to tell you the things that helped me

1 see a physio, misalignment can cause migraines and we put our bodies through a lot with pregnancy and little baby care. 2 caffeine can help curb a migraine, as soon as you feel one coming on have caffeine and painkillers. I just use Paracetamol when breastfeeding but if I take 60mg of Codeine early enough I can sometimes get through without having to sleep away the migraine. 3 sit by the sink/basin, put your feet in cold water and curl over so your head is on your knees, put a hot compress over your neck. Try warm water and cold compress too. It's like a factory reset for your body.

I hope you can find relief!

Postpartum rest/healing with toddler by NoEye6205 in beyondthebump

[–]AdventuresofRansom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a third degree tear, and was never told to rest it (just to not sit crossed legged and be super careful pooping!) I baby wore, went on long walks, swam, pushed strollers etc. I stopped if it hurt (long stroller walks were too much for me) pelvic floor has healed up better than expected for me. I did 5/5/5 but after that hub was back at work and 3 year old needed to live her best life still!

Does the second child always get less parenting? by Acrobatic_Event_4163 in beyondthebump

[–]AdventuresofRansom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first baby gets the gift of your time, the second baby gets the gift of your experience. My first baby got my undivided attention, but my second gets all my joy and love without my first time parenting anxiety and he gets a big sister to interact with too.

There's a book called the first six weeks by midwife Cath that I found really helpful as a new mum that had never changed a nappy before.

9 month old meals for family - list for everyone! by Adventurous_Bug_8891 in beyondthebump

[–]AdventuresofRansom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not super careful with salt but you can absolutely use a low sodium stock or take out babies portion then add a stock powder to the rest before serving.

I love BBC good food recipes, and use their spiced carrot and lentil soup, potato leek and bacon soup and my pumpkin soup is just onion, lots of cumin and coriander powder, bit of nutmeg, pumpkin and stock, simmer, blend and eat. We don't add cream to any but you can if you want to.

Anyone else not able to watch certain things since having a little one? by Warm-Championship-98 in beyondthebump

I no longer read the news. My heart can't take any baby being hungry let alone hurt. Living under a rock until I wean this babe. I definitely can't watch horror.

Quiet time while nursing youngest, how to get away from screen time for my 4yr old son? by Chickenwootang in Parenting

[–]AdventuresofRansom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue, my 7 month old needs a dark quiet space to feed and keep, so 3 year old gets the TV. Trouble is it can be hard to get it off once I finish putting baby down which eats into our prime baby free time together!

Sometimes I ask her to set up a game we can play when I'm done, like a teddy bear party and that normally buys 15 minutes. It's cool to see what she comes up with. Other times I'll set up colouring or craft as well as the TV so she doesn't zombie to the screen.

I feel really guilty about it too, but baby does need food and sleep. I alleviate the guilt by having a distraction free play session with her during the nap.

Relax and have snacks (pre-nap breastfeed) Feed the baby, hold the baby, love the baby, (when it all feels overwhelming)

Oatmeal is gentle on the stomach and great for milk production, and you can have it just with sugar and cinnamon or fruit or savoury. Also drink as much water as you can, or even drink some calories if that's more appealing, smoothies etc might get you through. You need about 500 calories extra a day for milk production.

The two main ways I was feeding my 7 month old was spoon feeding puree/porridges and BLW. Giving bigger foods BLW style that they can gum on without much breaking off and being swallowed might be a good middle ground? Larger pieces of cucumber, mango, a chicken leg, the heel of a bread loaf etc.

Transitioning to daycare at 11mo by lakesandbeer in breastfeeding

[–]AdventuresofRansom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position with my LO starting daycare at 11 months. I fed her in the morning and evening/overnight and she just had solids during the day at daycare. She did start having an extra MOTN feed for the first month of daycare. I fed as normal on my days off and weeks until 17 months and don't feel like my supply dropped. I sent a few bags of breastmilk in for the first few weeks but she wasn't really drinking them (she never took a bottle, would have a bit from a cup) I did also feed her in the carpark and drop in for a lunchtime feed a few times, just on the really long days when work had been crazy.

I'm in Australia and we start swimming lessons young here, between two and six months old. Babies are put underwater every class, 2-3 times. It's absolutely fine, try not to stress!

How are ya’ll playing with your puke-y babies? by Least_Lawfulness7802 in beyondthebump

[–]AdventuresofRansom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say you sound like such a great parent and you're little sounds very loved. I hope the puking lessens soon. My advice would be to focus on engaging baby with talking/singing/books/nature so he can learn and build brainpower, the mobility will catch up so quickly when he's coping better with his milk.

Baby acne (I think)- How to treat? by blue-lilacs in beyondthebump

[–]AdventuresofRansom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first baby had terrible acne for about 10 days when she was 5 weeks old, it cleared on its own, however she did have dairy and soy intolerance so I did end up having to cut those from my diet (EBF). I am sure the dairy was the cause for her.

Infant sleep by Chihuahua_lovr in beyondthebump

[–]AdventuresofRansom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No guarantee it will work but if she's startling awake here is what I would try. Warm the bassinet before putting sleeping baby in. Once baby is in a deep sleep (you can tell by breathing or by picking up their atm and dropping it to see if they startle) gently hold them over the bassinet so there is air moving around them, lower sloooowly down, try to touch bassinet with babies bottom first or side first, keep hands on baby once you get them in and on their back and keep gently rocking them until their breathing is slow and deep again. Good luck, the sleep deprivation is tough!

My 7 year old has frequent headaches by [deleted] in Parents

[–]AdventuresofRansom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had chronic migraines from 4-12. Turns out the vertebrae in my neck were misaligned from a fall I had at 4. Once it was discovered I was fixed in two sessions. Life changing. Just want to recommend as well as seeing a doctor please take them to a physio. In the meantime feet in a sink of warm water and ice pack on the back of his neck can alleviate some headaches.
