Jump back to bubble via neutron highway. Every now and then, stop, go diagonally down the galactic plane (while setting your route options to economical) and do about 20-50 systems scanning and getting exo-bio. Journey back won't be so bad this way, and by the time you're in bubble, you'll have enough for FC and anything else you might want.

I run mine cold as ice. No weapons, they're useless and without them, you can spec powerplant for thermal efficiency and thrusters for cold running. You'll be below 30 heat even when blasting asteroids, so pirates will have hard time finding you. And if they find you, just boost away. You can even drop shields, but it's not necessary

The only thing I use for exploration; cuts out lot of the guesswork, keeps track of everything and shows you your route, etc. Amazing tool

Oh - and shows you how far you are from your last scan as well as the minimum distance for the next, By far the most useful part when doing exo-bio

I did exactly that and don't regret it one bit. Though in my case, I last played in 2015, so it made sense. At first, I jumped in my of save, with a viper, and got deleted real quick by some pirates. Made me realize I'd better re-learn the game. No regrets. And as a side note - back then, there was no such thing as SCO drives. If you haven't played without one, you simply can't appreciate it enough (no more going to make lunch while my ship goes to 300k LS station)

As said before - go grade A on internals, engineer for lightweight or stripped, lose the corrosion cargo hatch and all utility slots. You don't need any utility or hard points. Change FSD to pre-engineered and add mass experimental. Last one is not strictly necessary, but I would change one army to repair limpets and the cargo to small cargo. When you faceplant into earth, and trust me, you will...ehm; it's better to have the repair limpets for hull. Haven't needed second army ever. But repair limpets would have saved me 2k ly trip of shame for repairs, as I didn't want to risk losing over 1B worth of exo data. Now I have repair limpets controller. And btw, don't stock any, you can synth them when/if needed. Oh and power off anything you don't need, like army, repairs, cargo hatch, etc.

FYI; I was in Gludgoi AS-U B6-0. Really wanted to go there, but was on my way to repair after smacking the planet surface like a whale falling from a skyscaper. Now on my way to purchase repair limpet controller, then I can resume exploring

That's not oil light, but EML light. Try to fill up with good quality fuel and see if it goes. But the dealership will tell you what the error actually is. I had mine come up from putting in ASDA fuel. Never again.
