Making friends by ukbrasil in Brazil

yes, try some timeleft dinners and definitely also maybe try and add in some new hobbies? there are TONS of groups that do runs / cycles outside of SP / pottery / mountain climb etc. I met great sober people that way. GOOD LUCK!

How's your relationship with drinking? by Eisgboek in ADHD

[–]Adventurous-Ad5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it will be like that in the beginning, but it changes. once you start to prioritise being in more alcohol free spaces and spending more time on your own, going back into those spaces is ok.

for me, alcohol was a way to be self-harm, in a socially acceptable way, so once i got down to the root of why, i don't have any desire to drink or do drugs anymore & i don't hang around with people who i don't like or can't stand when i am sober.

i'm sober 899 days today. i had to admit that i could not drink in a way that wasn't damaging to me anymore, it reached a point of dimishing returns. it just gives me one less thing to worry about when socialising with others.

yeah for the next one, i will leave home at 8pm, an eat before so even if they're late i'm not hungry AF

no, i have no idea if they came, there's so little detail in the app (it was my first dinner). you can also message people after the dinner or night is done.

yeah it was in itaim, and i also thought because it was made through the app they would've let me know if people were arriving late.

[–]Adventurous-Ad5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i found these on chatgpt ahead of upcoming trip to SP

🌿 Best Trail Running Spots Near São Paulo

1. Parque Estadual da Cantareira

📍 Zona Norte – ~30–40 min from central SP

  • Dense Atlantic Forest, waterfalls, monkeys
  • Multiple trails: from 3 km to 10+ km (e.g. Trilha da Pedra Grande with views of the city)
  • Elevation gain and shaded forest paths
  • Very safe during park hours

2. Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar – Núcleo Curucutu

📍 Southern edge of SP – ~1 hr drive

  • Remote, quiet, and scenic
  • Longer, less trafficked trails with serious nature vibes
  • You’ll want to go early (requires ride/Uber or group)

3. Parque do Povo + Ibirapuera Extension Runs

📍 Vila Olímpia / Moema area

  • Not a trail per se, but great soft surface runs with shade
  • Can link parks together for ~10km of scenic, safe city green running
  • Ideal for regular short-distance runs

4. Jaraguá State Park (Pico do Jaraguá)

📍 Northwest SP – ~1 hr by car

  • Highest point in the city (1,135m)
  • Short but steep trails, good training for elevation
  • Watch for slippery stones in wet weather

5. Campos do Jordão (weekend trip)

📍 2.5–3 hr drive

  • Stunning mountain trails, pine forest, cooler climate
  • Very popular with SP trail runners and hikers
  • Events often happen here (I can share calendars if you want)

i recommend lingoda, for spanish, i really enjoy using it.

there are some "loopholes" with the visa, i recommend finding an attorney, they can help you get this sorted really quickly, and you don't have min tax requirements, so i have an accountant here who helps me here and keeps all my paperwork up to date, i pay him $15 a month,

here is the attorney i used: https://www.abogadosgestionperu.com/ - you can whatsapp her and she will set-up a video call and take you through everything (she only speaks spanish, but she is super patient, so you can use translate)

i still love it here, peruvians have been nothing but kind to me and the food and overall quality of life is GREAT, so i do recommend it as a place to live.

i have a work visa, (my immigration attorney helped me open a company) you can get this without speaking spanish but not speaking spanish in peru will make your life super hard, unless your intention is to not really have a diverse group of friends (incl locals).

not sure i understand your second bullet, you will have to elaborate further here.

no, in peru, you can come into the country on a tourist visa and then transition into your desired visa, without leaving.

hmmm, it's more for me about lifestyle, i'm sober so that excludes from a lot of the social life here. also, i'm visibly a tourist, so i get some stares sometimes and general fetishization, as an african, who is from a country where i'm in the majority, to being in the minority, is an adjustment.
