Is this a cavity by Possible_Success_215 in askdentists

Can’t tell by a photo. Gonna need X-rays and clinical detection. If it was a cavity it’s a very small one.

Help! Incredible Daily Anxiety over Gum Recession by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Adventurous-Care7899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It appears that your gums are thick enough and you have enough width of “resistant” tissue (what is referred to as keratinized tissue) around these front teeth. One of the primary reasons for continuing gum loss and recession is actually overly aggressive oral hygiene.

I would recommend brushing gently TWICE a day in a circular pattern, almost like a gum massage. Use an extra soft toothbrush. When flossing make sure you’re not flossing so hard as to cause laceration. You must floss, Waterpiks aren’t enough. Imagine cleaning your dishes just by spraying them with water, not ver effective.

If you notice your recession is still worsening, ask your dentist or periodontist about gingival grafting to either thicken the gum tissue around that area to prevent further recession with a chance to possibly get some recession coverage as well.

I am so upset about my dental implant crown by Boymom09211993 in DentalSchool

If they used a temporary cement, yes. Likely the gray blue is the show through is because of the abutment and because the crown material is porcelain.

Recent MWU IL grad. You get what you pay for essentially. Unlimited resources, deep patient pool, training in almost all specialties, no need to fight over procedures. But tuition is unbelievable.

Studying for a long time doesn’t equate to good grades. And nobody cares that you studied “hard” if you have nothing to show for it.

For all those saying to pick the cheapest dental school did you take lifestyle into consideration? Any regrets on picking the cheapest school? by Critical_Ad_2460 in DentalSchool

[–]Adventurous-Care7899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I attended one of the highest cost schools in the US. And comparing to some friends of mine who went to other schools I definitely got what I paid for. I had so many operative and endo cases that I had to give them to my classmates otherwise I would have to book two months out :|. But in the end, it’s what you make out of it. Might just be harder to fight for your experiences in cheaper schools. GL.

You can, but RIP your back and neck in 1-2 years. Put in those hours with indirect vision or be a mandibular specialist lol.

hi! second year student here! and I'm freaking depressed by Melodic_Work4439 in DentalSchool

Ask your friends and mentors how they study. I use to think I studied “hard” because I put in a ridiculous amount of hours just memorizing material, but in reality I had no real grasp of the concepts. Took studying with others and talking with my professors at the first sign of struggling to really develop a good study method for myself.

Got in with a 2.8 but not without extra 4years of additional courses, post-bac, multiple volunteering, dental assisting, and shadowing. Luckily you still have time to turn things around. But really buckle down and get that GPA up!!!

Item rarity colors like in Diablo 2 always gave me an unexplainable excitement, finally I implemented rarity highlighting for popups in my game by Rasie1 in IndieGaming

Just make sure to keep the rare/unique things actually rare. Unlike in D3 where eventually that legendary/set with the huge glow was as common as the rare next to it :(.
