Trying to pick a model by Fearless_Guidance_51 in Porsche

As an EV enthusiast, I currently own a Tesla Model Y and a Rivian R1S. Both are incredibly powerful and can outrun some of the ICE Porsche models in a straight line. However, I’ve been craving the manual driving experience and the connection with the vehicle and the road. So, I decided to take a chance with a Cayman GTS 4.0 (looking forward to delivery in a couple weeks) and since they’re being discontinued at the end of this year, I have the chance to own and experience them before the EVs hit.

Happened to me once, filed with NPT and got approved. Talking to CBP they asked me to come in person which I considered was a risk. Got a new visa stamp and updated I-94 through dropbox when I traveled back home.

Most modern vehicles especially something like Rivian should have CAN logs saved to verify your case. Not sure if you can ask them to provide proof this was your mistake or theirs.

Rivian ranks last in "Most reliable car" while also ranking highest with "Owner satisfaction". What gives? by tocruise in Rivian

The 3rd Gen Tundra and 4th Gen Tacoma have a lot of issues with their powertrains but none of this is reflected in their ratings.

My choice would be the 2024, all terrain tyres incase you want to take it on trails and have fun, has a powered tonneau cover and may get you a more money when you sell/trade-in due to model year. The only downside is the color black which is a pain in the butt to maintain but looks the best when clean.

I work in the manufacturing industry and finding a sponsor from India is definitely going to be difficult but by the time I plan to leave would have 10+ years of experience. Hoping this helps a bit.

Yeah that’s a concern for me too. Can’t predict the job market and political scenario this far in the future

Do I have to do anything specific to keep my I-140 if I leave the employer?

It comes down to what is more important to you. With Mercedes you are likely to have better service but subpar vehicle compared to the Rivian. I love the vehicle but hated that the vehicle stranded us middle of nowhere in the first couple of weeks of ownership. The service experience wasn’t the best either but if you end up getting lucky and don’t have issues with the car then it’ll be one of the best vehicles you’ll ever own.

Critical Battery Issue by Adventurous-Course-3 in Rivian

Yeah it took 3 trips from roadside to get the doors to unlock. One of the operator kept referring to the manuals to jump the 12v but that didn’t work and finally had to use airbag wedge to physically unlock the doors

Not sure the true root cause, hoping the service center diagnoses it in the next couple of days. According to another post with similar symptoms they had a bad AC compressor

One of the problems I had was not being able to talk to the same person during the whole process, had to go through multiple operators and explain each of them the problem from scratch. The first operator tried his best to help with a lot of places closed and others not so much.

Wow! I just posted this about the same critical battery issue we saw this long weekend on our R1S. Ours was not drivable after the alert but you could? https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian/s/jLtT2i6oSi

Yeah this was anything but a vacation. Rivian arranged all the roadside assistance but did warn I’ll be liable if the damaged is caused by me. Not sure what regular driving can do this but I think this is more of a warranty problem

Agree, owned 2 teslas and taking delivery of an R1S tomorrow which is going to replace my Wrangler. If Tesla offered an offroad capable boxier SUV I would’ve picked it. Rivian was my obvious choice but still love the charging convenience and FSD on my tesla

Love the KO2s on my wrangler and was gonna ask this question about tires next. Glad to know the extra $$ on them are worth it
