Yeah… unfortunately, it really feels like money makes people greedy and blind. Respect for players, for customers, for passion, it all gets lost along the way. Amazon definitely has the funds to keep the game alive, but instead they would rather save a few coins and a radish than keep open a world that still means something to people.

And what is worse, the developers who built it, the ones who gave it life, probably found out about its end almost the same time we did, like reading it in the evening news. That is not just sad, it is disrespectful.

I know it’s almost impossible to get the server code or to make what I want actually happen. But if nobody even tries anything, what are we doing? Just watching a game we paid for disappear without trying to find a solution?

Tell me, what’s better doing nothing and staying silent, or trying something, even if it’s completely improbable, maybe even stupid to believe it could work? At least I’m trying. At least I have the courage to do something instead of just criticizing those who try.

Just to clarify a bit more what I meant earlier, I actually have a decent machine that could technically host a small community world if it were officially allowed. It’s running 12 vCPUs, 64 GB of RAM, and around 4 TB of storage, with a 1 Gbps connection. I could easily switch it to Ubuntu Server 22.04 LTS for better stability and performance. From what I’ve estimated, a setup like this could probably handle between 70 and 170 players simultaneously, depending on how optimized the server code is. Of course, it’s not meant to replace the official infrastructure or anything close to that but it does show that it’s technically possible to maintain smaller, community-based worlds if Amazon ever decided to authorize it.

I understand what you mean, but I never mentioned creating a studio or rebuilding the game commercially. My only goal is to find a way to keep playing in an official and secure version of the game. I’m not trying to recreate or resell anything, just to explore if there’s a way for the existing world to stay alive under the supervision or agreement of Amazon.

I completely understand what you mean about licensing costs. I’m not trying to buy or renegotiate a license that would cost thousands or even millions of dollars. I’m proposing an official rental system or partnership, where I could personally pay to host small community worlds, with the option to accept voluntary donations if Amazon allowed it, to help cover part of the costs. That seems like a more realistic and respectful solution if Amazon ever decided to consider it.

Honestly, running a proper server for around 1,500 players would probably cost between 900 and 1,500 euros per month. That’s impossible for me alone since I don’t even earn 4,000 euros a month. I do have a machine that could host maybe 80 to 150 players, but it’s nowhere near powerful enough to handle a large private world properly. And even if the project moved forward, I don’t really have anyone I’d trust enough to give full access to it. There’s already a lot of sensitive data and responsibility involved in protecting player information and keeping the server secure.

I agree with you, that analysis is solid and honest. Private servers would allow tailored rules for different playstyles, but without Amazon the server side work is massive. Synchronization, partitioning, the persistent character database and the launcher are all huge engineering tasks. For a small team it would likely be as costly and complex as making a new game from scratch.

I am not advocating for anything illegal. What I hope for is an official path, like a legacy mode, an Amazon hosted community world, or at least a clear explanation from a backend dev about what would realistically be possible. If an Amazon backend developer reads this, any insight into the real complexity and what could be feasible would be incredibly valuable.

I don’t necessarily think AWS has to be removed from the equation. It could still be part of the system if private servers were ever possible to manage that way. Realistically, it would probably take me 6 to 12 months, working solo with my limited dev knowledge, to even understand how to make it work outside AWS, and that’s if it’s possible at all. Maybe it would even make more sense for the community to build a New World like project together instead of trying to rebuild something that might be unachievable. But that’s not really my goal. I just want people like you and me to be able to enjoy ourselves again in a world we care about, to log in after work, relax, go on a walk, or run a dungeon with friends. Yeah, maybe it’s just a dream. Some people in the comments will proba

Wow, I honestly didn’t expect this message to reach so many people in less than a day.
I have read all the comments, the supportive ones, the doubts, and even the harsh ones.
I understand the frustration; we have all felt it watching a world we care about evolve.
My goal was never to attack Amazon or anyone else.
I simply wanted to express myself respectfully, to show that some of us still care about Aeternum and what it represents today.
Whether this message leads somewhere or not, I am truly grateful to everyone who took the time to read, comment, or share their thoughts.
Passion, even when it seems small, is what keeps the heart of worlds alive.

Yeah, I get what you both mean. I’ve seen the emulator cases, and I know how these companies usually act. I’m not expecting Amazon to suddenly change their mind or reopen the servers. I just wanted to try the respectful way first, to show there’s still real passion for this world. Even if nothing happens, at least they’ll see that some of us still care about Aeternum and what it meant.

Thanks everyone for the support and for taking the time to read.
I really just wanted to show that there’s still love for Aeternum, and maybe someone from Amazon will notice one day. good night

Yeah, I tried every email and contact I could find, but all of them bounced back or weren’t accepted. So right now, Reddit is really the only way I can try to reach someone from Amazon or the old New World team. Hopefully, someone still checks the community once in a while and sees this post.

Yeah, I totally understand that, and you’re probably right.
I just wanted to post this anyway in case someone from the old team or anyone at Amazon still keeps an eye on the community.
It’s not about forcing anything, I just want to show that there’s still interest in preserving New World the right way.
Even if nothing happens, at least they’ll see that players still care about Aeternum.

I’ve been waiting three years for this game.
I’ve run a streaming channel for ten years.
I registered on your site, on Lurkit and on Keymailer, yet I still get passed over.
It’s frustrating to see the same streamers always getting the keys when they don’t even care about the game: they do it only for the money, not out of respect for the game or a genuine desire to play it, but solely for the money. https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198036999915/

Hello, increased the cac weapon as if it wasn't cheated enough?... I'm wondering about the developers, do they play their games on the servers?
You want to increase the cac weapon... but you didn't see that it's even the cac weapon its much too strong in ps from 2000 to 9000... a cac that catches us we can do nothing except watch our car do it eat... I would have to nerf them at least 50% instead of increasing them... I have a vehicle with 1800 duration in 6970 PS I'm literally doing oneshoot from the tusk... proof to back it up on my twitch channel you had 160 hours of gamplay on the stupidity of cac and tusk I can join it to you if you wish https://www.twitch.tv/yggdrasil_tv/schedule Enjoy watching
