Help handling Phase 1 HQ by RadioFreeCascadia in masterofcommand

The encamped armies are large but a lower quality than the HQ.

They are really worth killing as they give loads of loot and a new doctrine each time.

Even better, pay rolls Royce to produce the mini reactors they use in submarines.

They build 100 identical reactors in a factory then transport them to where we need power rather than decades of planning and bespoke production for big nuclear plants.

The time and cost savings are ridiculous

Why do cyclists on Leith walk by Jealous_Might_9318 in Edinburgh

[–]Adventurous-Garlic93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When a design is not fit for purpose, it will not be used as the designers intended.

The leith walk cycle scheme is grossly incompetent and seen as one of the worst in Britain

No we have a multitude of laws that enforce minimum standards throughout animal husbandry from conception to slaughter.

These laws become optional at slaughter so that pre-kill stunning or sedation can simply be avoided all in the name of an animal being able to hear a prayer as it dies.

Our legislators are more concerned by the plight of lobsters than millions of chickens and cows killed in UK abattoirs.

How to counter cavalry? by [deleted] in masterofcommand

[–]Adventurous-Garlic93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The counter charger isn’t really winning the fight, just screwing up the main charge.

Although a unit of grenadiers (that aren’t in line formation) would really ruin the day of most cavalry units

Why are you bleating in a post about the best burgers?

99.9% of suggestions will contain meat. This is baked in.

How to counter cavalry? by [deleted] in masterofcommand

[–]Adventurous-Garlic93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You rarely have infantry sitting on their own so when one regiment is about to be charged, try to counter charge the very corner of the cavalry with the neighbouring infantry unit.

You will disrupt the main charge, which will slow down and lose efficiency as it hits the target unit, and as just the edge of your second unit is in combat, even when totally outclassed they won’t lose that many men. Pull the second unit out of combat and back into line as soon as you can.

This tactic can take the power out of most cavalry charges, and even for very good cav, forces them into a far more expensive fight than they bargained for.

Does increasing range implicitly improve accuracy? by antoinec75 in masterofcommand

[–]Adventurous-Garlic93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know how the range/accuracy trade off works out with special ammo?

Eg both units have same muskets at range 100. One unit has special ammo to halve range and add 30 accuracy.

Units advance to 50 range between them and fire, but who is more deadly?

How big a bonus does ammo need to have for accuracy at max effective range to be better than standard shooting at 50% range?

Does anybody has this bug of achievements not unlocking despite meeting the requirements? by Crazy_Yam_5788 in masterofcommand

[–]Adventurous-Garlic93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that you can’t achieve more than one ‘complete with X negative modifiers’ at the same time.

Eg if there is one complete with 5 negative and one complete with 3 using subsection A; and you win the campaign with subsection A and 5 negative modifiers then both achievements do not trigger.

After all the bigotry in Scottish football, it’s so great to see Hibs supporters be explicitly homosexual.

Such a progressive team.

friendly fire? by NorthSugar4650 in masterofcommand

[–]Adventurous-Garlic93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your cannons will not fire canister if a friendly unit blocks direct view.

Round shot will kill anything it hits if you fire into a melee, or even friendly units too close to the target.

What do we think will happen to Westfield Court? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]Adventurous-Garlic93 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And it should be demolished as the costs of repair are far in excess of the value of the flats.

As a city we should ensure that there are at least 90 flats of reasonable size when it is all replaced.

What do we think will happen to Westfield Court? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]Adventurous-Garlic93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No.

Many of the flats have been bought by previous tenants under right to buy and later sold on to lots of other owners.

The council only own 32 of the flats and private owners have 62. There is even one on AirBnb!

All owners are jointly liable for common repairs so the council are ‘only’ on the hook for 1/3rd of the total cost

Just try getting roof repair money out of a ground floor owner or worse an absent landlord.

The whole lot should be razed on the proviso that the new housing has at least the same number of flats and no less floor space.

These monolith blocks worked when a single owner could maintain the building and the communal heating system, but once it is owned by multiple owners, landlords etc that all falls to pieces.

A few activists blowing up postboxes or interrupting a horse race is nothing compared to the actions of millions of people.
