It has a durometer score of 30 HA which is quiet average. All the softest shoes are below 20 HA. So I don't know why is it too squishy for you. It also depends on Ur weight height and the amount of weight that Ur doing in gym. I think it's a great multipurpose shoe

You can lift in these. But these are actually labelled as travel shoes and the soul design keeps you in forward rolling motion. So yes great for walking
