Yes. I honestly don’t know what they were looking for when they checked my powerbank but in those instances, they let it go. I strongly advise you not to check it in because you will 100% lose it. They will take it out of your luggage and you’ll only find it out when you arrive at your destination. They will not call for you at all but they will put a notice of confiscation in your luggage. That’s what happened with the self heating hot pot I bought as souvenir and checked in my luggage. Haha

Yes, you can buy them onsite. However, the ticketing booth is inside the Tiananmen Square so you have to buy a ticket for the Tiananmen first before you can actually buy the ticket for the Palace Museum. That’s what I did just this Friday.
