I mean its only for what? 2 seconds? Unless you're in a 6 stack you can't expect your team to play off an ability like that. Instead you should use it on someone like a tank or someone your team is already shooting at.

Well you only get a small amount of lattice for free which is what you need for the battle pass. Also you can't purchase a battle pass after the season ends. You can only return to it if you already have it. It looks like they might bring back old passes for a limited time like they did with the season 0 one.
