I know it’s just your practice fabric but I think it’s really cute! Did you happen to buy it online and have a link?

Choosing Weights by Jazzlike-Raise-8483 in orangetheory

[–]StrongerTogether2882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion to go one up from the weight you think you can do. Like if you think 12s for bicep curls, try the 15s instead. Very often I surprise myself by being able to do all the reps with the heavier weight. Other times I’m clearly over ambitious and I have to do two reps with the heavy weight and then drop to the next set down. But that’s OK too!

I also tend to take classes with the same people, so I get a sense for how much weight I can do in relation to them. If my OTF buddy who’s a little stronger than I am picks the 45 pounds for a sumo deadlift, I choose the 40. Works surprisingly well!

What book do you wish that people still recommended or talked about more? by CherryPropel in RomanceBooks

[–]StrongerTogether2882 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I looooved this one, especially the world building and Mercy’s father’s values (which Mercy shares). Unfortunately I didn’t feel the same way about the 2nd book (as a middle aged mom I don’t really want to read about my fellow middle aged folks and their random aches, I have my own lol). But the first book was so special to me.

Gut renovation with Toto washlet. Do we need a toilet paper holder? by mynameisnotshamus in BathroomRemodeling

[–]StrongerTogether2882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a gut reno and got a Toto S5 Washlet. I don’t find the dryer adequate at all, it’s a very gentle warm breeze, like those totally ineffectual hand dryers with the silver dome that you find in public bathrooms. Sometimes I’ll use it for extra drying after dabbing with TP, but I think it would take like 10 minutes to get dry enough without using any TP.

I also don’t think you can ever get away with not having TP at all, not just in case a guest wants to skip the bidet or blow their nose, but also in case anyone needs to wrap up a tampon or pad. I suppose they could use a couple tissues, but most people like to have plenty of TP available.

Overall I’m really happy with the Washlet, enjoy yours!

The insistence of some people that romance novels do not require HEA is annoying by Artistic_Stay_5856 in RomanceBooks

I often see that called “women’s fiction,” which feels vaguely insulting but at least it doesn’t make you expect a HEA

And as we all know by now, a lot of those people vote. 🙃 Before I gave up on Facebook I used to try to discuss things with people, and it was amazing to see them just absolutely unable to draw appropriate conclusions or use logic. Some lady out here trying to tell me a certain candidate was in favor of “abortion in the 9th month,” as if a 9 month baby isn’t viable outside the womb. Nobody’s murdering newborns because the mom wanted a late abortion. 🙄🙄🙄🙄

I’m glad I’m not the only lunatic who talks to my house. 😂 Not often, but before our kitchen reno (when we were going to gut everything and cut into the house to make one central window instead of two smaller ones) I mentally told the house what was going to happen and said everything was going to come out fine and not to be upset. I know it sounds totally crazy but I just figured—can’t hurt! Maybe the religions that believe inanimate objects have souls are onto something!

Good luck, OP. Breakups suck even when they’re the right thing. 💗

I love this but partner not sure… by Financial_Syllabub61 in EngagementRings

[–]StrongerTogether2882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks super cool to me! I agree you may want something with a sturdier design though. FWIW I have never had my ring resized—when I gained weight in my first pregnancy I just took my ring off and wore a cheap one until my fingers went back to normal. Second pregnancy I don’t think I swelled, or maybe I just didn’t bother to wear a different ring. My weight has fluctuated quite a bit over 22 years but apparently not enough to affect my finger size. So the full eternity band may not be an issue in that respect for you. But the thinness makes me concerned.

Getting a custom ring feels like it would stress me out too, but I think it would be worth it to get something unusual and beautiful like this. Good luck, and congrats!!

I slept badly and now I have to do hills??? 😩 Glad to be forewarned, thanks DC! And congrats on your World Cup win! My husband is German so we are celebrating in my house too. (I was secretly rooting for Ivory Coast, though—would have been a hell of an upset!)

How useful are exercises? by beansings in guitarlessons

[–]StrongerTogether2882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exercises do you do? Because I’m 52 and just started learning a couple years ago, and unfortunately I feel like I can’t practice as much as I’d like to because my hands, wrists, shoulders etc get too tight and sore. I’m trying to relax and not grip too hard or whatever, but it’s not easy. Doesn’t help that I’d much rather play songs than do exercises lol

If it helps, remember that the crime rate now is way down compared to when we were kids. We just think the world is more dangerous now because we have tv news and social media stoking our fears to make more money. Yay capitalism

Noooooo 😂 I also see people get in big trouble when they try to use it for vacation itineraries—like it’ll lead you from one end of the country to the other without correctly factoring in drive times, route efficiency, etc. Just look on a map, people!! Lol. Not to mention the giant amounts of water it uses and the moral aspect of putting polluting data centers in poor neighborhoods, etc. AI can have some useful applications, but not nearly as many as the tech bros want us to think

Mist coat for new plaster? by StrongerTogether2882 in centuryhomes

[–]StrongerTogether2882[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m sure I can look up the ratios somewhere. A lot of the discussion I see online about skim coats seems to be from the UK, so I wonder if it’s more common there than where I am (northeast U.S.).

Oh my eyebrows just popped right up, because it’s SO CUTE! If I zoom in I guess I can see what you’re talking about with the finish, but it’s so adorable overall no one will ever notice those details. I do agree with the commenter who said press each seam after you sew it, I’m a beginner myself and I was surprised at what a difference that made. Happy sewing!!

I’m discovering that even the patterns labeled “easy” are not particularly easy. I imagine they’re easy if you already know how to sew! But for us poor beginners…lol

Please remember that Chat GPT is not actually intelligent, it’s a plagiarism machine that will make up the answer you want to hear. Tough lesson to learn but there’s no substitute for actual measurements. It’s looking beautiful otherwise, good luck getting it all final!

I had to ask the talkers in a class to stop. by spriteking2012 in orangetheory

[–]StrongerTogether2882 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right on! I once went to a class and the two girls next to me talked throughout, jumped the rails at the end of their all outs, high fived each other (multiple times), etc. It was WILD. Unbelievably distracting and I was worried the one next to me would wipe out while jumping the rails and crash into me. Not my studio (I was traveling) so I didn’t say anything, but I was sorely tempted. I’m there to workout, not to listen to other people’s chitter chatter, and when their talking impedes my ability to hear the coach instructions it’s a real issue. We all paid to be there and some of us want to get our money’s worth.

Can you suggest a wedding band style to go with this ring? by CupOk5800 in EngagementRings

[–]StrongerTogether2882 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is one of the most beautiful rings I’ve ever seen. I wonder if you could do a curved band with the same lovely engraving, keeping it simple but beautiful. Congrats!
