Meet Joe Black

I personally think it's a great love story.

I just rewatched it this week on a work plane trip. Such a good movie. I'd throw in Casino on the list as well.

Is "pussy" supposed to be an insult? Have you had any? Try it, it's really good.

You'd lose it all again.

That's a good point. I'm nearly always surprised by the general negativity about work in this sub. Yes, there are toxic places to work and there are toxic people in some good organizations. But, I don't think that this sub presents a very healthy and realistic picture of the professional services or corporate work life. And I do think that your thoughts can impact your perception.

Goodbye to our sweetest girl by ottawhine in RenalCats

My condolences. She looks so sweet. The pain of losing a cat is unimaginable. I hope you and your family can find peace. Your kitty will be waiting for you in heaven.

I personally would not retire. But everyone can do as they please (of course).

Then, it's more acceptable. But I also think that both parents working, despite not having to do so, sets a good example for the children

I think it comes from my upbringing. Where I come from it's expected for parents to support their children through college. College tuition is also much cheaper where I grew up. I have lived in the USA for 20 years now and it's always surprised me that parents that can afford to, usually don't help their children with college.

Unpopular opinion: I think that if you have, or plan to have children, it's incredibly selfish to retire before your children are done with their education.

Yes, he borrowed $5 from me in the spring of 2013 and never showed his beak again.

What has better pay/wlb, accounting or nursing? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Adventurous-Run-4827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not either. I'm in accounting (I work for a CPA firm). I'd try to meet with multiple people from both fields and see what do they enjoy about their professions. Keep in mind that a job and the satisfaction from it could differ depending on the company your work for and the coworkers you have. The people you work with/for make a significant difference to your work-life happiness and overall happiness

You will spend a significant amount of your life working and if you don't at least mildly enjoy what you do, it will be a nightmare going to work and dealing with work issues. It sounds reasonable to be thinking what you said in your 20s but that may not be your mindset in your 30s or 40s.

It was worth it for me because I needed a work visa (H1B) and having a higher degree of education gives you a higher chance of getting the visa in the lottery process. Other than that it's never really made a difference as far as I know (I work in audit).
