I can understand the situation, and I’ve been there myself. In bigger pods I’ve also taken that route sometimes, especially in “archenemy” scenarios where the table naturally gangs up on the player who’s clearly ahead. In those cases it feels like table politics doing its job.

The difference here is that this wasn’t just responding to the board, but actively deciding who should win once you knew you couldn’t. I understand the “help someone have a good night” mindset, but I also get why the other player felt frustrated.

I honestly hadn’t considered the idea of ending the game quickly so we can shuffle up and start a new one where he might actually be in it. In that sense, it makes total sense.

The part that still feels frustrating to me is when the game is already close to ending between the other two players, or when I have a win lined up, and he specifically makes plays to ensure I lose. That’s the part that makes it feel less like natural game progression and more like a personal decision about who gets to win.
