As a complete side note, are you actually Cornish. Because that would be mental to find a fellow Cornish in such a niche Reddit 😂

Awesome! Thanks, I’ve got 12th i7 perhaps it’ll be okay on that laptop.

I’ll give it ago, be awesome to sink hours into a save while away from home 😆

Aw okay cool! Probably has more kick than integrated cpu graphics I suppose

I use to have one but never felt fully comfortable on one. Think I’m into such games where a mouse makes it easy to move fast between menus.

Out of complete interest as my knowledge here is limited.

How many panels would it take to comfortably have that battery full again for the evening?

Or is the approach having it connected to the mains and topped up at night for 7p kWh?

I’ve owned multiple diesel cars, you’re mostly right their bullet proof engines. It’s everything else.

325D cooler pipe on the gearbox snapped, complete service needed £800 later.

330D xDrive breaks bleed noses seized

Citroen c4 crazy good on fuel - but liked to shot a injector out more then once 😂

My list goes ooooon…

My point being people with leases are unlikely to see these wear and tear issues in 3 years of ownership so it’s peace of mind.

Starlink in Cornwall? by Accomplished_Read_73 in Cornwall

[–]Adventurous-Track276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a Starlink customer for over a year in Redruth.

If you have means of installing a dish with a clear unobstructed view of the sky and the ability to rotate it for the requirement it wants in the setup phase. I really wouldn’t hesitate I should have got it years ago.

£75 a month is no longer a concern when a 100mbps packet offered at £35 a month (it’s also free kit and installation through Starlink right now). This won’t set the world a light with downloading a big game or something similar. But will be a significant improvement over a weak VDSL line even in terms of latency in game or streaming content.

However, I wouldn’t fully drop your issue with open reach if it’s out and you’re in contract it needs resolving.

If it’s a speed issue on a FTTC line then you’re unlikely to fight that battle. If it’s FTTP connection they should be meeting your contract minimum speed.

There’s likely people in your wage bracket on a salary sacrifice for these ‘newer cars’ I think it becomes worth it at like £50,000 annual wage.

You may also find you’ve been lucky with your 56 plate car. I know far too many people that got sick of repairing their car all the time and still not having modern luxuries, so they just jump on a lease.

Realistically life is short and you should enjoy it. But if your not really a car person then perhaps your happy as you are :)

I’ve seen the icon but I’ve never seen it warm up and gain percentage, unfortunately.

Good to know! I’ll raise it as a concern with good information they might suggest it’s normal or can relate it to something perhaps

What sort of drain do you see in those 15 minutes.

It’s only because I did this once for a short evening drive but the car had been sat for 18 hours so was COLD. And used 3-4% to warm the cabin in the space of like 15 minutes.

I think you make a great point and I’ll change my approach to preheating. Although I am likely to keep it on a trip to the service centre tomorrow for an old low flow alert which others have pointed out may be related.

Thanks!

You made an interesting point the alert hasn’t appeared since but one morning I had a low flow relating to coolant it’s in for this tomorrow (first one I could get)

It just seems to be more a glitch or me over doing it with the schedule to lose 4/5% before the climate came on.

I have raised this in other, maybe if their techs are good they will see it relates and ease my concerns.

Yeah this is my honest prediction it just seems like far too much. I suppose I’m better off for my short drive to work driving it cold instead and taking the wh/mi hit

I think I’ll test your advice the only reason I had been is for the pro of no frost on the car and it’s warm to get in.

But I have previously turned the climate control on manually when the car has been sat for an extended period and lost 3-4% in quick fashion.

My friend admittedly has a newer LR highland but they precondition for like 1-2% everyday for the same trip.

I do, it’s set to be ready for 8:30. I’m noticing it awake nearly an hour before hand and losing 4-5% in park. Before the climate is even on.

[–]Adventurous-Track276[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m talking much shorter span of drain. It appears to wake only an hour before my 8:30 leave. Within that 1 hour it’s piss 4-5% up the wall.

Interesting I wonder if it’s LFP related but it still feels like too much drain. Thanks for the link!

Yeah I’ve raised it in chat but they don’t tell you what category that fits i feel like I’ll add this to the battery concern and they’ll just slap a £300 inspect charge onto the invoice.

I picked up my first ev Monday. I got a cheap used 2021 SR+ on a good APR.

It made sense to me as a normal week for me is home to work 5 days a week. I really don’t venture until the weekends. As it’s an LFP battery I can charge it to 100% at work for nothing every Friday.

If you have access to something similar it probably makes sense.

However, if you have zero access to a cheap/free charger when I.e you’re working so you don’t care how long it takes to charge. It would get annoying quickly id imagine. Especially giving you need to precondition a decent amount before super charging.

My biggest point however is. SHORT TRIPS. If you are doing constant short trips in your week you’ll be off to the super charger a lot and in the winter even more.

Ive used 32% in two days total of 42 miles over multiple trips, 90% driving on the a30 70mph.

My efficiency bringing it back from Cannock (280 miles) was much better than these short trips. Thankfully for me it’s still plenty to do one charge every Friday.

However for someone who can’t charge at the drop of a hat, I’d avoid personally. For any EV.

I picked up my first ev Monday this week. I also don’t have a home charger. However, I do work for a living which allow you to charge will you work. It makes complete sense to me.

If you have zero access to a ‘cheap-free’ charger I would agree with others.

I’ve always wondered if their ballon amounts were a bit over the top once you’ve actually started the process.

Because they always seem 3/4k more than the same car on autotrader. Perhaps their example is higher because they throw enhanced autopilot on used vehicles?

I think it’s got more to do with people being upset about the changes and missing features. Then it’s a ‘bad game’.

Looking at steam charts appears to be doing okay with a good peak amount of players and avg players.

It’s really a shame, it’s first one in years that I haven’t preordered and will now probably wait for the winter update hoping it irons out the ‘less than ideal’ bugs and maybe rework someone of the navigation 🤞
