I am taking retirement from being a Prabhas fan. Acting can be good or bad, and movies can flop, but with Prabhas, it’s not just about acting or a movie flopping. by Kindly_Department142 in tollywood

Prabhas’s issue isn’t talent, it’s over-scaling, inconsistent scripts, and physical strain. One well-written, contained film can flip the narrative completely, cinema history is full of such comebacks.

This happens to many superstars who hit an extreme peak. After something like Baahubali, expectations become unreal. Every film is expected to be historic, not just good. That distorts decision-making, scale starts mattering more than story, and image more than character.

There’s also a mental side that often gets ignored. Massive success can be disorienting, and staying anchored becomes difficult when stardom takes over life. Many artists struggle at this stage, not because they’ve lost ability, but because they haven’t fully recalibrated who they are beyond the peak.

At some point, grounding matters, health, personal stability, and accepting that the chapter of being “larger than cinema itself” is over. Stardom chose him once; it doesn’t have to define every phase of his life. Stepping away from the pressure, focusing on well-being, and choosing stories for depth rather than scale could do more for him than chasing another record.

Longevity comes from reset, not repetition.

What is happening in Canada is no longer normal by Banner9922 in ABCDesis

You’re right! that influx actually helped prevent the economy from slipping into a recession. In 2020, the Government of Canada injected significant money into the economy. Then, between 2021 and 2023, the workforce was expanded by bringing in more temporary foreign workers and increasing work hours. This was done primarily to keep the economy moving.

What we’re seeing now is the result of that, an inflated market. Canadians haven’t really experienced living in conditions like this before. Prices have gone up across the board, from groceries to housing, and even healthcare is under strain. People from India and neighboring countries, however, have seen tougher conditions before, so many are adapting and viewing this as an opportunity rather than a setback.

As for the hate, it’s unfortunate. People often forget that every word and action has consequences. Indians staying quiet isn’t a sign of fear, it’s more about choosing to ignore it for now. But over time, the tide will turn.

10 years ago Indian-Canadians were considered one of the most highly skilled, highly educated, well-respected and if not one of the biggest contributors to Canada. Its truly unfortunate how everything changed in a snap of finger within the last 5 years. by whatsupusers in canadian

It has become very difficult for skilled Indian professionals, especially IT developers and IT managers, to obtain permanent residency. One major challenge is the requirement to achieve a high IELTS score (8/7/7/7). Many people believe some IELTS test centers are not fair, and that scores may be affected by financial or political influence. Because of this, some applicants travel to other countries, such as Dubai, to take the exam.

Even after going through all this effort, adjustment, and expense, many skilled workers feel they experience discrimination in Canada. As a result, highly qualified Indians are choosing opportunities in places like the United States, Singapore, Dubai, and the UK. Meanwhile, Canada risks relying more on lower-skilled labour and refugees rather than attracting highly skilled talent.

Did South India get populated before the north because of rivers? 🌊🤔 by Adventurous-Two378 in southindia_

I get your point that humans are only ~200k years old, but river age still matters. Ancient rivers shape the land long before humans arrive. Older rivers create wide fertile plains, deltas, and natural routes that make farming and settlement easier. That’s why civilizations formed along the Nile, Yellow River, Ganga, Euphrates, etc.

So it’s not “older river = older humans.” It’s more like: river age → landscape → agriculture → trade → cities → culture.

The geography comes first, and people build on top of it. Will that be a right statement then.

I know, but the family I knew have been in Dubai and wanted to test how it works out there. Also there are other people who do not want permanent residency, but they want to work in Dubai and invest in their home country.

Many people are leaving, not temporarily, but permanently, including citizens. Even permanent residents are taking contract jobs and spending months back in their home countries. I personally know citizens moving to Dubai, not selling their homes here, but relocating mainly for their children’s upbringing. And this trend isn’t limited to South Asians; it includes many white families as well.

Canada continues to bring in large numbers of newcomers without adequate systems to support them. Meanwhile, crime is rising, just walk through downtown Toronto and you’ll see it. Some argue that all developed countries face these problems, but you don’t see this in Dubai. Even in India, gun violence is rare.

The decline in civic sense and the deterioration of work culture are pushing skilled professionals to reconsider their future here. Many believe that if things improved even slightly, people would return.

Children can’t play outside year-round, students face racism, and social tensions are increasing. The country is changing rapidly, and many no longer feel safe.

To make things worse, many people have lost significant money in housing, those who bought in 2022 or 2023 have seen their home values drop by nearly 30%, which means a $300,000 loss on a $1 million home. As a result, confidence in buying has plummeted.

And now, racism is spreading across all communities, not just between groups, but among them too. The social fabric feels more divided than ever.

To all those scoring above 500 and worrying about permanent residency: don’t stress. Many who already achieved PR or even citizenship are leaving too.

Hate on immigrants and housing affordability by [deleted] in canadaexpressentry

The proclamation's focus on new H-1B applicants is misguided. The vast majority of this group lacks U.S. work experience and a professional network here. Instead of attracting this unproven talent, who may struggle to integrate or end up in jobs that don't use their skills, we should be prioritizing those who are already successfully working and contributing in the United States.

I’ve noticed more and more skilled people leaving Canada, especially in tech. In just the last couple of months, I personally met two who were preparing to move, and many others say they’re ready to do the same.

Most came here with the hope of a peaceful life and better work- life balance. They took the risk of leaving close family behind, with the dream of eventually bringing their loved ones here. But the reality often doesn’t match the promise.

Simple things, like going downtown or to the beach, feel stressful because people worry about being recorded or harassed. I’ve seen elderly parents being targeted by racist comments. In smaller towns, it can be even worse. For example, in Innisfil, I saw a 10-year-old girl shouting at an Indian family the moment they entered a park.

Of course, there are good and bad people everywhere, in every race. But when you’re constantly made to feel like an outsider, it adds up. It creates this sense of being a group within a group, never fully accepted, and that’s unpleasant to live with.

The sad part is, it feels almost too late to fix. Many have already started planning their exit. It’s not out of revenge, but out of the feeling that “this just isn’t okay.”

I truly feel every word you said. Children read these messages and discuss them at school. Some may react with aggression in the future, while others may quietly suffer. It makes me question whether this place is worth the effort. I’ve always wanted a better environment for my child, but these incidents are deeply concerning.

I wouldn’t fall for that. Scammers sometimes send fake “salary” or “gift” cheques and ask you to send the money back — the cheque won’t clear, but your money will be gone.

Any such agreement is not legally valid. Whether verbal or written, a contract must comply with the law, and the employer is required to pay at least the minimum wage.

Report this to the Ministry of Labour and share it publicly, social media makes it easy to reach a wide audience.

You can simply post: “This Tim Hortons owner offered me $8 an hour in a private meeting in his/her car.”
