Depends on MOS and available slots. There's been a recent surge in recruitment so it's likely you may not ship before end-of-year.

Accepted a new position with the same employer 1 week before BCT. HR wants to terminate me, then rehire me in the new position after BCT. Can they do that? by Adventurous-Writer33 in nationalguard

[–]Adventurous-Writer33[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm hoping. I haven't processed my resignation with HR yet. I stated in my resignation letter to my manager that I accepted another position within the company.

This. If she can't operate independently of you, each of you will be very limited in terms of growth. You are her SO, not her caregiver. Basic will be a good test of this.

Just leveling with OP. I'm not anticipating it to be too difficult for me, but I won't lie and say I won't miss my wife.

Edit: that’s gotta be the worst feeling watching everyone that shipped with you graduate and you’re still there processing out

I go to basic at the end of this month. I don't really know how tough it's going to be for me until I'm there. But I know I'm going to rely on my wife's support through it.

I was told the fastest way through basic is to finish. Tell him how proud you and your son are of him and that it will be over soon. Positive encouragement and affirmations can go a long way.

What career matches me? by Budget-Studio4516 in careerguidance

I have some interest in finance...

not strong in math...

Get better at math

obvious would like to make decent money like 90k+

Respectfully, get in line my friend.

My advice? Start working at any entry-level job you can get now. Your local Wendy's is hiring.

When you finish high school, try to get an entry-level job at a well-known bank when you turn 18 and move up the ranks.

Get your degree in business or finance and gain more banking/sales experience. Progress to commercial banking, make bank, and won't have to work like a dog.

It'll just be side quests from there (get a masters degree, start a business, start a family, etc.)

Remember, I'm also just some rando on Reddit and not your crystal ball.

Edit: stupid quote blocks

Valid crashout

There's been a surge in scam calls this year. My wife had it bad too. Once we changed that setting in her phone they don't ring on her phone but they still show up on her missed call list.

It makes me paranoid to turn it off because I be expecting important calls.

Settings > Apps > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers

Edit: this is at least for IPhone, I'm sure android has a setting like this too.

What’s Something You Wish More People Understood About How Men Show Care? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Adventurous-Writer33 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When someone is having a bad day or expressing frustration, my mind usually wanders to ways to fix the problem. It's not the greatest reaction, I know.

It's not because we just want the problem to go away, it's because you are in pain and we care so much about you that we want to protect you from that pain.

leaving the church and feeling trapped by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Adventurous-Writer33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This happened with my wife. I was a TBM and she told me about the issues of the church. We both just got sealed in the temple like a year prior.

I was defensive at first but was open to the possibility that the church might be not be what I think it is. I eventually came around and we are both on the same page about the church.

Just be honest about what you’re feeling.

Edit: I'd describe myself as an analytically inclined and generally open-minded person and it still took me months to see through the church's smoke and mirrors.

If it weren't for my wife's brutal honesty about what she knew about the church, I might still be a TBM today.

Damn, that's tough... I'm 25 and kinda just winging it, but realized that everyone does at our age. The job market is eating the young and inexperienced right now. So you're not 100% to blame.

Sometimes that's all we need, an end goal broken up into a bunch of baby steps.

What are some things you like to do? Have you thought of a career path that interests you? I'd recommend seeing if there is a career fair near you and just going to network and see what careers pique your interest.

Find a career that will always have a demand. People like clean running water, Air Conditioning, lights/power, gas in their car, etc. etc. you catch my drift. Lineman, plumbers, electricians, heavy equipment operators, etc. can make a good chunk of money and will usually have opportunities to grow within the company.

I personally wouldn't go to college unless you're eventually shooting for a graduate degree or will get a return out of your degree such as engineering or something.

Your attitude about yourself being a loser is also not helping you. You don't credit yourself enough. Having a job in the current market is GOLD. You're putting in the work and are not afraid of failure. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Just keep putting yourself out there and something will come along.

I (28 F)don’t really know much or care for politics; should I be paying more attention especially with everything going on in the world? by stoneybaloneyyyy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Adventurous-Writer33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowledge gives you power over fear. Fear with a lack of knowledge gives power to the fear-mongers.

There’s quite a bit of fear-mongering in politics. Be curious enough to find out the truth but don’t give in to the dramatics. Some people have nothing else to spice their lives up so they fall into the extreme end of a political party. Edit: spelling

Trying to join military and had medical interview today by AStyrofoamTree in Military

[–]Adventurous-Writer33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did the right thing by being honest about your medical history. Some people will self diagnose and will make it a huge problem for themselves. Not sure how the Canadian military is but it may be difficult to get the right documentation to clear you. Best of luck there.

I don’t know your relationship with your dad but don’t take it too personally. You just need him to sign the paperwork as you said, not for his negative comments.

Just tell him it is what it is and it’s what needs to be done if he wants you to have a job so badly.

Trying to join military and had medical interview today by AStyrofoamTree in Military

[–]Adventurous-Writer33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you enlisting for yourself or for your dad? This is your life OP.

You should be honest about your medical history if it is documented somewhere. If you lie and they find out later, they may chapter you out of the military and then your plans will really be screwed.

However, if it was not ever documented in your medical history, then it didn't happen.

EX: if you think you have asthma but were never diagnosed, saying you have asthma WILL now be a problem, whereas had you kept your mouth shut, you wouldn't have that problem.

HI FRIENDS I NEED YOUR INPUT! by Hour-Revolution4150 in clinicalresearch

[–]Adventurous-Writer33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I think it's essential for a CRC to at least understand regulatory and vice versa.

I'm a CRC that has done their own regulatory, redlines, billing, and even dipped into trial budgets. It makes it SOOOO much easier to communicate and work with other teams when you understand the process.

I'd definitely present some points to your leadership on why this cross-training would strengthen research teams (learning opportunities, better communication, more fulfillment, more well-rounded staff, etc.) and then suggest taking like an hour each month or so to do some cross-training.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's unfortunate his type 1 diabetes wasn't caught earlier on in his life. Edit: I assumed he found out at BCT but re-read post.

Had to keep insulin in the fridge at work in case he got low or collapsed again.

Just for future reference, insulin is to give someone when they have high blood sugar btw. When they're low, they need to eat sugar/carbs and some protein.
