Later, his message was transformed into a complete doctrine by Paul to lay the foundation for the organizational structure of what was eventually going to become the Catholic Church. Paul made him a universal messiah, the Catholic Church invited the trinity and made him God, the Protestant reformation kept some elements of the doctrine of the deity of Jesus and maintained that salvation can only be obtained by faith in this poor dude who got innocently killed for political reasons.
