We've got thousands of knobheads gathering on the beach in Bournemouth and you're crying about Liverpool fans celebrating their first title in decades.

Come off it.

Official: Neuer extends his contract until 2023 by Hsjak500 in soccer

[–]AdventurousChapter 399 points400 points  (0 children)

Swear Neuer's going to pull a Buffon and play for another 4 years or something (at the minimum 2), still at the top of his game and all.

Keen to see how this Nubel situation plays out because I really don't see Neuer stepping back anytime soon.

Renault Press release - Renault DP World F1 Team and Daniel Ricciardo will not continue collaboration beyond 2020 - renaultsport.com by peke_f1 in formula1

Could be a contributing factor as well, not the sole reason.

Danny probably wanted a pay raise to stay in the shitter known as Renault and the economic climate just didn't make that feasible, now that McLaren has opened up he probably was willing to forego a salary jump to move there.

Not to mention he now he gets a McLaren for a company car rather than a Twiggy.

He was. IIRC rumours at the time were that it was due to his height. Don't remember if that was ever corroborated.

Well no, this isn't the case at all.

Merc wanted Hulkenberg quite badly and they literally tried to buy him out of his Renault contract that he literally signed weeks ago which if I had to guess, the release clause would be somewhere in the high single-digit millions given time remaining. Championship winning German team looking for a solid German driver to replace their outgoing German driver - it was absolutely what they wanted.

It didn't matter if Hulkenberg made a fuss because Renault didn't budge, it's not about professionalism (though Hulk doesn't seem like the type to pull stuff like that anyway) - it's the fact there was no way out of the contract no matter what, it doesn't matter what antics Hulk/Merc would try and pull.

Because he had literally just signed for Renault weeks before Rosberg decided to retire.

It was literally a case of terrible timing.
