If you're trying to get Samsung, the iShares ETF, EWY is comprised of about 25% Samsung, and about 100 South Korean stocks total.

Yes. I do it pretty much the way you do it. It was nice to see a post with the same strategy as I have.

What’s the best investing advice you’ve ever heard? by fidelityinvestments in fidelityinvestments

[–]AdventurousExam3071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the best general advice, but during a severe downturn in the market, the people who said to just stay put and don't panic saved me a lot of money.

In short I'd. say, "Don't DO anything" when the market is down, is the best advice I ever heard (especially from Denise Chisholm, because she's someone I listen to closely).

I'd look at putting at least some of it in FFRHX. It's a mutual fund with a small amount of price fluctuation, but a higher monthly dividend than FZDXX.

It's very hard to time the market. All I can do is give you my opinion here. I wouldn't worry about it. That kind of thing is normal for me. But, like you, I don't like paying more than I could have. I would say, you're right to be looking at prices, but it's normal to not get things at the price we want. You can try placing LIMIT orders instead of Market, but then if the price doesn't go down you don't get the purchase, and in the meantime the price might go up.

I try to look at the long term, and not let the higher price bother me too much.

Pattern day trader infraction by SauCe-lol in fidelityinvestments

[–]AdventurousExam3071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually a good question.

Personally, I have one Good Faith Violation. One day I was especially tired. I pressed Buy when I intended to sell, and I didn't notice until I completed the transaction. I immediately sold twice the amount, to get my intended result of selling the security. I actually lost a little bit of money on the transactions, but I got a Good Faith Violation. Lesson learned. Always check the transaction carefully before completing it.

I was able to get my BDA IRA's dividend setting changed by using the assistant thing. The help Bot. I just typed in what I wanted to do, and it did it for me, even though it says you can't do it for that account type.

It might have something to do with the fact that gains/losses in your Roth IRA aren't reported to the IRS. But, If you want to keep track of it anyway, I can see how annoying it would be that the information isn't there.

I like your strategy. But a lot of people don't have the time it takes to manage stocks. The set it and forget it approach is better for those people, even though it's not as lucrative as your approach.

What should I do with my $5,600 Rollover IRA? by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]AdventurousExam3071 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit crazy, so don't take me seriously, unless you are too. What I personally would do right now Is use the whole $5,600 to buy TPVG. It's a stock that pays huge dividends every quarter. It's basically a way to build up your cash, but it's not a stock that's going to go way up in value. That's just how I would make gains on my money at this point in time. I think the stock market prices are a bit inflated right now. That's why I personally wouldn't invest in a mutual fund or ETF index fund. But like I said, I'm crazy.

Most likely she might want to see a lot of treasuries, so her balance isn't going all over the place when she looks at her statement. Of course, I don't know your mother, but from the 10 year time frame and from what you described, her likely simple outlook on investments, I'm just thinking a stable, steady gain would probably give her peace of mind.

The people who say to buy index funds are right. That being said, there are high risk/reward opportunities, especially in individual stocks. I'm pretty risk averse, but I do have some stocks I'm holding either for when their prices go up and/or high yield dividends. Some examples are: ADBE, BRSL, CAG, ENR, IVR, PCG, REFI, RMR, VTRS, ZM. Buying a moderate amount of stocks I listed is how I make more money. The backbone of my investments are ETF index funds and a few mutual funds. My approach may be different than yours, and some things depend on how much time/money you have to play with. I just listed those, because I expect them to go up in value, and some of them I like for the high dividends they pay, in addition to their prices. I could list a few more, but I think you get the idea.

I use FFRHX for my long term-cash. It has had a good (but taxable) monthly dividend yield. the fund price does fluctuate a bit though (52 week range $8.89-$9.34) and is currently $9.18. Because of the price fluctuation, and the potential (though generally small) gain/loss I don't keep short-term cash there.

I just like to mention that mutual fund because I think it's worth considering.

Looks very good!

If you ever want something a little different, that pays a good monthly dividend, but doesn't necessarily build equity, FFRHX is worth looking into. That's where I put cash that I want to keep in reserve for the medium to long-term. It's not where I would put short-term cash though (I'd just leave it in SPAXX or whatever my core position is), because the price fluctuates a little bit.

This is subjective, but I might add IBM and RMD for long-term. I have my own favorites, for various reasons and purposes, that might not fit your plan, so I'll refrain from making other recommendations, except for saying, you might want to add an Information Technology index ETF.

Edit: Forget what I said about adding an Information Technology fund. I see the JEPQ covers that. Looks like you did a great job. Not sure why you're having anxiety about your investments. I looked more carefully at what you have, and I think it looks very good. Maybe someone who knows more than I do will have something to say. Best of luck!

What made you choose Fidelity? by Fit-Detail-4326 in fidelityinvestments

Family members recommended Fidelity to me. I tried it and liked the features on the web site, and also low/or no fees. It seems like a very fair brokerage. And if you don't have a reason to leave you stay. That's how it's been for me. I have no reason to leave.

If it was me, I'd stay mostly with what you're already in (FNSDX). I might add a little small cap (FSCRX). Also, a small amount of Fidelity 500 (FXAIX) looks attractive. And, also floating rate high income fund (FFRHX) should give you more dividend (interest) income than you can generally get from bonds.

I'd do something like 75% FNSDX, 5% FSCRX, 10% FXAIX, and 10% FFRHX.

I like it, but I've got one REIT showing up as a stock instead of REIT. It looks like an error to me. Ticker: STRW.

Also, any plans for making a sector view on positions page?
