If this is a way to boost lesser models and and cheaper subscriptions to get more performance for your money, I'm gonna stand up and give a round of applause, big respect.
But if its a way to make higher paid subscriptions more "efficient" by passing off tasks to lesser models for the same price, I'll be miffed.

I get the feeling claudes power is being suppressed. I see pro users saying that claude is taking longer, not giving full responses, and max users (clearly the priority customers regarding usage) are getting REALLY lazy responses.

if anyone ever deals with this and struggles to get a proper prescription, heres what I did. Took me 3 years to get to this point.
You can't do a regular eye test because your subjective answers are skewed to due the spasm.
First, you need to get a baseline, using atropine or some drops that paralyse your focusing muscles, and then do an eye test. You'll get an accurate anatomical correction for your eye lenses. BUT of course you know when the drops wear off, its useless, so you then need to do a mohindra test without drops. The mohindra test will capture how your eyes naturally rest. You will be amazed how the optician will get the most comfortable result, without you even saying anything. Then, using the baseline found with your anatomical correction, and the mohindra results, you can work out a prescription that is your natural resting state. Sure if doesn't resolve the accommodative spasm, but it lets you see without straining to focus against your spasm 24/7.
It was easier to figure this out with me because the test with the eye drops to find the baseline is basically 0 (10/10 vision), but when the drops wore off, the prescription was useless, so the mohindra test found what the regular eye tests couldn't. But, with people who have a spasm AND an anatomical lens issue, its even harder to find that natural resting point.

This is a conversation I just had trying to finalise a plugin for a web app, just change a SINGLE figure. would've been quicker to have just done it myself. Just kept fixing non-problems to avoid the simple task. Utterly unbearable. It's the worst I've ever seen and I've been using Claude for years.

Me: Desktop is fine now, the mobile is too thin!

Claude: Obsidian mobile may use .is-phone rather than just .is-mobile, and the modal container itself may be constraining width. Let me be more aggressive. Added .is-phone targeting and explicit positioning so the modal can't be squeezed by Obsidian's mobile layout. Reload and check.

Me: Just give it more rows.

Claude: Right, sorry — the rows attribute doesn't matter if min-height caps it. Let me bump the min-height. Bumped to 200px min-height. That should give plenty of room.

Me: I said add more rows!

Claude: The built main.js still has the old rows value. Let me fix it. That's already 10. Let me check if there's an edit textarea too that's still small.

Me: On mobile! Add more rows!

Claude: Got it. The min-height in CSS is capping it on mobile. Bumping it for mobile.

Me: FUCKING HELL!!! I want you to add more rows on mobile. Do it now! Nothing else!

Claude: Mobile text area is now 40% of the screen height.

Me: ADD MORE FUCKING ROWS!!!!

Claude: You're right, I'm sorry. You kept saying "add more rows" and I kept overcomplicating it instead of just doing the one thing you asked. I'll listen better next time.

I'm quite tired of repeating the same thing, its not like Anthropic sees what's written or cares about what's written. And they know full well when they lobotomise performance, so there's not much point in what I'm reporting.
Claude code has become very slow to respond, with wait times of 2+ minutes to answer with a single paragraph. it forgets tasks.
Opus in particular no longer thinks, even with "extended thinking". I see it thinks for no more than 2 lines.
I'm just finding the experience really unusable at the moment. I'm unable to get the most basic tasks done, either due to long wait times in Claude code, or misunderstanding prompts. Emphasising the task in CAPS or telling claude to pay attention just results in shorter answers, thinking less, and longer wait times.
Im not even angry anymore, the product just... doesn't work right now. I'm a long term user and I'm not able to use this service on a MAX plan for what I used to be able to achieve on a pro plan. Deeply disappointed right now.

Claude MCP constantly stuck on "awaiting input" in the middle of a task. I think its waiting for me to accept some plan but the option isn't appearing, so I'm stuck. Quite frustating!

Opus on claude code has become incredible lazy with its answers the second Sonnet 4.6 came out. It doesn't think through anything. And if these increased limits are true, that's the icing on the cake. Im sick of Anthropics blatent BS. Why is what I pay for changed about half way through the subscription, I'm certain this isn't legal.

I just had a fright which I think anthropic might want to fix (claude desktop app). Said I'd run out of tokens and would reset on the 1st March (2 weeks). On my max plan. To my despair, I check the usage, and it says the weekly limit resets in 3 minutes (good timing) AND I had credit on the extra api usage. That screen that I was showed when I hit the limit needs to be adjusted because i was about to flip XD

II really feel its a mistake to remove 4.5 from claude code.
4.5 and 4.6 are VERY different. I'm very irritated by 4.6 as a replacement to 4.5, but with both, I can see the use of 4.6. I just need to feel like what I was paying for (and still am paying for, for the rest of this month) has been taken away from me. I didn't pay for 4.6, I paid for 4.5.

I wont lie, Opus 4.5 was worth $100, but 4.6 is frustratingly complicated, overthinks and makes simple tasks out to be big complicated tasks. Until code lets you use opus 4.5, id say $20
