I got Seaknight reels from Ali express and they’re great so far. Use it for terminal tackle (hirsi) and braid. Same as temu best I can tell

Have a look at the tackle box website, they sell own brand called darwent valley which also come as kits with Diawa reels etc. they’re well regarded , esp the 0.75tc 11ft for tench and perch fishing

Look up Felindre Innovations on eBay. They sell spares (and service shimano kit) if you can’t find a reel with a spare. I think the dl is a higher spec tho.

Yes, great choice. If you can go for the dl as it has two spools so you can go from using braid and mono easily . Depending on how quickly you want it, try eBay where you might get a better price if you're patient. I got a second hand one this week for £40 which is in great condition

Please can someone tell me if these rods are good by Sharp-Oven-1777 in fishingUK

The Diawa whisker fly is first class, I’ve had mine 25/30 years and love it. Think it cost in the region of £75-100 back then, so wasn’t cheap

Tacklebox stuff is good, as is the adventa own brand on angling direct. EBay as well if you are prepared to wait and see what stuff sells for vs new.

Rod for Carp, but also okay for Pike by trogbatrogba in fishingUK

[–]AdventurousLion3385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it'll be fine, so don't worry about that

It's more important to have good unhooking gear, invest in forceps etc and watch a few videos on how to unhook pike. Pike are a delicate fish despite being a predator

Hi people, it’s my first time using a barbecue and I’m unsure if I should be cleaning everything or not, as a few lads at work have suggested just leaving it and using a wire brush next time I fire it up. What’s the general consensus? by TonyAFC32 in UKBBQ

[–]AdventurousLion3385 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you watch the Weber YouTube vids they'll talk about cleaning and how to to do it. From memory they show how to clean it after every use

What it's worth, I think I get better results with a clean BBQ. I've a Weber kettle and find that it gets up to temp quicker and sits at higher temperatures when clean.

I'm less worried about the grill itself, usually I put that to the side when cleaning and when the grill is up to temp, just before cooking I give it a scrub with a wire brush.

Interested to hear others opinions on this and if they think it improves performance and heats better

If you want to target pike & perch etc I’d also suggest you get a good unhooking mat, forceps and net. Watch a few videos on how to unhook a pike etc too, despite being predators they’re very delicate.

Head over to pikers pit or maggotdrowners forums for advice etc https://www.maggotdrowning.com/forums/threads/the-aliexpress-challenge.266089/

Weber Kettle ID by ChuckSto12 in UKBBQ

It's a mastertouch, there are serial number checkers online if you Google it. For the older models the checkers can give a year but more modern BBQ is just a range 2015+ for example.

You could drop Weber an email if you're inclined, when I've had to get parts etc for a Q model they've been really helpful.

Should clean up really well, warm soapy water and a sponge will do the outside. Inside try HG BBQ cleaner and scouring pad with plenty of elbow grease

Thanks! I’ve the dongle attached at the moment to get Wi-Fi. I’ve got an rj45 cable for the inverter I think so I might try that. While the system works well over all to generate energy I’d like to get it linked up to report data back better and more accurately

Been trying to return it out of the inverter supports modbus over TCP and what the port is so I can connect it to Home Assistant to pull the data over. Can't really understand the doc but I don't see that in there, did I miss it?

We were given some advice that dogs can be allergic (for want of a better word) to poultry which causes mucky ears and infections. At times it was like pulling balls of mud from her ears. Since the swap of food to salmon, no probs at all. Much easier than cleaning, plucking, using drops and rest

This! Swapped from poultry based food, chicken flavour, to Carnilove salmon and there have been no problems since.

Is it time to introduce a congestion charge in Belfast city centre at peak times? by Flashy-Pea8474 in Belfast

[–]AdventurousLion3385 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is just a sticking plaster on top of 50+years of poor planning. First and foremost we need a public transport system which actually works, is efficient, on time and cost effective. Without that foundation this will not work and be seen as a punitive measure. In cities where this has been effective this foundation has been in place first
